Size Matters: 9 Diet-Friendly Versions of Your Favorite Snacks

Karen Pearson/Fitness MagazineKaren Pearson/Fitness MagazineBy Rebecca Rebman

You can snack and lose weight: These 9 low-calorie, mini-me versions of your favorite snacks will make it easier to achieve a mini-you.

    1. Quaker Instant Oatmeal Express

    (200 calories, 2.5g fat, 0.5g saturated fat)
This quick, hot breakfast cereal delivers all the sweet, hearty goodness of regular oatmeal in flavors like Baked Apple and Golden Brown Sugar, along with 3 to 4 grams of fiber per serving. Just add water and eat it out of the bowl it comes in.

    2. Teddy Grahams Graham Snacks

    1.25-ounce bag (150 to 160 calories, 5g fat, 1g saturated fat)
With something this addictive, a lunch-box-size pack is the only way to go. Bonus: Each bag of bears (in chocolate, honey, or cinnamon flavors) provides a surprising 10 percent of your daily calcium needs.

    3. Stonyfield Farm Squeezers

    (60 calories, 1g fat, 0.5g saturated fat)
This organic, fruit-flavored yogurt is ultra-convenient for snacking on the go -- you don't even need a spoon! Somehow, each 2-ounce tube manages to pack in 10 percent of your daily calcium requirement.

    4. South Beach Diet Peanut Butter Cookies

    Two-pack (100 calories, 5g fat, 0.5g saturated fat)
For those who don't trust themselves around anything having to do with peanut butter (or cookies, for that matter), this single-portion snack pack is the perfect solution. Plus, its 4 grams of fiber will tide you over till dinner.

    5. The Laughing Cow Mini Babybel Light

    (50 calories, 3g fat, 1.5g saturated fat)
Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand but surprisingly satisfying, the Babybel is a favorite of slim girls everywhere. Each mild, Swiss-like semisoft cheese round provides 20 percent of your daily calcium needs plus 6 grams of filling protein.

    6. Froot Loops

    0.95-ounce box (100 calories, 1g fat, 0g saturated fat)
Mom never let you eat sugary cereals. And while we mostly agree, indulging in a selection from the fun-size variety pack (plus a half cup of low-fat milk) for dessert might just be the way to end after-dinner cravings once and for all.

    7. Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae

    (170 calories, 3g fat, 1.5g saturated fat)
Ice cream, cookie dough, and fudge syrup for less than 200 calories -- good things really do come in small packages!

    8. Earthbound Farm Organic Apple Slices

    Two-ounce bag (30 calories, 0g fat)
Say goodbye to bruised apples rolling around in your purse -- instead, take along two bags of sliced apples. You'll get a full serving of fruit, and the added vitamin C (which keeps the slices from browning) supplies 130 percent of your daily requirement.

    9. Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Original Ice Cream Singles

    (230 calories, 11g fat, 7g saturated fat)
These mini-cartons are the only way we know of to avoid downing a whole pint in one sitting. Look for them in deli and convenience-store freezers, complete with their own little plastic spoon.

I didn't realize oatmeal was a snack. You're better off buying the non-flavored instant oats and adding milk and fresh fruit to it. It tastes way better and is much healthier for you!
