The Weight Loss Tips You're Not Trying

In reality, hitting the gym five times a week and sweating out major calories a la Britney Spears is on my priority list … it's just waaay down at the bottom with cleaning out my closet and watching "The Green Lantern."

I do care about eating right and burning more calories, but I just wish it didn't always feel like rocket science. Seriously, do I really have to read a 300 pager on some fad diet plan or learn army-worthy workout sequences just to decrease my "pooch"? There have got to be easier, sneakier ways to lose those stubborn pounds, right?

Fitness and lifestyle consultant Ashley Borden says absolutely. And while all these little tweaks may seem minor, they add up over time. Awesome.

Most of the tips are valid, but before you can put into place any suggested activity or change in diet, you need to know how to diminish your old eating habits, and, how to make small changes in lifestyle that will stick. Otherwise, the mechanics of 'what to eat' and 'how to exercise' are meaningless.

What's your reason for losing weight? Most of us diet for the wrong reason, meaning, your desire translates to a goal that has a finish line. Ask yourself this: How do I see myself in five years? How about ten?

The second barrier is improving your ability to overcome a built-in resistance to change. Do you know how the process of 'forced change' works? Does it take 30 days to change an eating habit? What is the critical element to long term change? If you can't answer these questions, tips on burning calories and eating right don't add up to a hill of beans.

      Here's writin' for you, kid.

I usually jump-start my weight loss efforts with two-a-day workouts as well as a good breakfast. It may sound hard core, but all that means is that I run one mile in the morning (sometimes two) and a longer run in the afternoon or evening. Sometimes the later run is to the gym. I do this for the first two weeks (six days on one day off) and before I know it I'm in the groove, eating well, with no negative cravings.

The first run is just to get my metabolism up for the day and the PM work is my actual workout
Lost 40lbs in one year and was down to my college sophomore weight.

How exactly does a ZERO calorie drink 'pack on the pounds over time'?

The sad thing is that this is purely made up rhetoric rather than actual factual information. The basis is simple 'common sense' however the execution of these 'Chicks' articles is merely fodder for the masses to 'believe' they have been educated. I don't knock the intent, just the basis of statement.

      Umm...

"add more weight until your last rep is an effort,"

ALL the reps should be an effort! What kind of exercise advice is this crap? If you're not exerting yourself every rep, you're wasting your time.

love the tips. recently read about low carb diets and have been following it for the past month- its worked wonders for me so far. The first positive change i noticed within just two days was the tummy! If you can get the book i would advise you to read it: Why we get fat and what to do about it by Gary Taubes.

Water is definitely an important factor and avoiding salt (salt retains water!) Drinking water at specific temps has different effects too! (google it and you will gind some great info! One thing that has worked for me is body wraps to tighten up the areas where I had extra skin after multiple pregnancies (the detox kind not the water weight loss kind. As found at sophiaslimsyou.itworks.net (or go find them somewhere else...Just use them! They work!)

watch your diet is really important ! If you want to lose weight, you have to be very careful of what you eat every meal, especially dinner. You can't lose weight if you don't eat right ,no matter how hard you do your exercise. I'm using the Foodpics log app to keep track my daily log, and exercise 4 times per week...
