Having a top ten superfoods list in your kitchen is important so that you can quickly and easily add superfoods to your everyday meals without too much forward planning.
Superfoods are great as I'm sure you know, thanks to their incredible nutritional density and all the amazing non-essential nutrients such as antioxidants and polyphenols.
Superfoods can made into smoothies with juice and fruitsBut you may think that top 10 superfoods are hard to come by, and have to be bought from the Amazon rainforest, or imported from China at huge expense, or harvested from the mountains of Russia once every 100 years.
In reality, top superfoods are not like that at all.
In reality, the best superfoods are available from your local supermarket at a sensible price, and you've probably been walking past them every day for years without realising what you've got right in front of you!
This list of superfoods is a sneak preview of a much larger list of superfoods that has 30 items in it. The list below contains 3 items that are often misunderstood.
Top Ten superfoods
#1: Red Wine - this is an amazing super food. But why is Red wine always on lists of superfoods and White wine isn't? It's actually quite simple: Red wine differs from White wine because of how it is made.
Red wine is made with the skins of the grapes on, and White wine is made after the grapes have had their skins removed. Since the skins of the grapes contain all the "super" parts, Red wine is naturally more "super" than White.
A small glass of Red wine every other day is enough to absorb the anti-aging and heart protecting properties of the grapes.
Top superfood #2: Dark Chocolate - here's another mysterious superfood. Why is dark chocolate always mentioned, and never milk chocolate or white chocolate? Plus, if chocolate is so good for me, why do so many health experts recommend cutting it out of my diet to lose weight?
Firstly... it's not chocolate that's good for you. It's cocoa. That's why dark chocolate with a cocoa content of 70% or higher is recommended, because that's how you can get the biggest dose of cocoa.
Milk and white chocolate don't have nearly so much cocoa in, so they're no good. They also have much more sugar, which is why it is recommended you cut them out on a diet.
The other reason is that milk tends to inhibit the super powers of chocolate, and milk/white chocolate has lots of added milk, whereas strong dark chocolate doesn't. So now you know why this superfood is on the list.
Top superfood #3: Natural Yogurt - a fantastic entry to this superfoods list, natural yogurt is a very healthy treat indeed. But take note: it MUST be natural yogurt because that's the one that has all the active friendly bacteria which strengthen your internal digestive processes.
Of course, you can flavor your natural yogurt with jam, fruit, honey, maybe even sprinkles of dark chocolate for a superfood power punch!
