If you have ever been on a plane with kids, you most likely have experienced the dilemma of dealing with bored kids, or possibly even worse, been on a plane that had children who were not your own and those kids caused havoc because they were bored.
Whether you are bringing the kids on the plane yourself or you are a passenger who has to deal with antsy children, flying with kids is not always easy. Finding ways to keep kids entertained on the plane is especially important if as a parent you would like to keep your sanity and you do not want to be trapped in a plane with very annoyed individuals who are looking at you to do something with your kids.
Here are five tips and things to do to keep the kids entertained on the plane.
Kids love tic-tac-toe and can't seem to get enough of it; this fun game is a great way to keep kids busy on the airplane. Tic-tac-toe is a perfect game for plane travel with kids because the only materials needed are paper, pencil or pen and two players. I always used to love playing tic-tac-toe when I was a kid and still enjoy it now as an adult.
Old Maid Playing Cards
This card game is a favorite of little kids and great for the airplane ride because it keeps the little hands busy and the mind occupied. The Old Maid card game has been around for a long time, but it is still a game that is excellent for kids. I personally really like the Old Maid playing cards that can be purchased in toy departments because the images on the cards are fun and playful.
As a kid, Etch-a-Sketch was probably one of my most favorite toys because I loved anything having to do with creativity and my own children always had an Etch-a-Sketch, too. Etch-a-Sketch is perfect for kids on an airplane because it keeps them busy and quiet; plus the device itself is quiet.
Coloring Books and Crayons
Coloring books and crayons are always a super standby to keep kids busy on the airplane. I write a lot about how much I like coloring books and crayons, but I really do think they are one of the greatest inventions ever. Coloring books and crayons are so portable and low cost.
Legos are a good activity for kids who can build things on their food tray. Legos are also a very quiet activity that keeps kids busy for hours, and the best part is a child can build something from Legos, then take it apart and build something else again.
