How kids can participate in Occupy Wall Street events

If you're a parent who is interested in joining the Occupy Wall Street movement, you might be wondering what to do about the kids. Maybe you want to get them involved but aren't sure how. There are many ways that you can help your children to participate in this movement. Maybe you just want to get involved and leave your kids out of it. Either way, parents have their own unique skills to bring to this movement.

Take the kids to the protest. You can always take your kids to the protest or general assembly so they can be right there with you. Just make sure you plan ahead when you protest as a parent.

Let the kids make the posters. Maybe you don't feel comfortable taking your kids to an Occupy Wall Street rally. You're the parent and that's your choice. You can always let the kids design and create posters you want to take with you. If they get bummed out because they can't go to the protest with you, just be sure to let them know how proud you are of the hard work they put into the posters.

Gather supplies. Another way your kids can help with the Occupy Wall Street rallies is by gathering supplies for the people that are attending them. There is a great need for things like water, fresh foods and coats or blankets. Your kids can help you pack some items up to take to a rally.

Think about the kids at the rally. There are parents who bring kids to the rallies. Some of those kids might have needs that their parents didn't think of. Even small items like little notebooks and golf pencils can help to occupy a bored child's mind. Most kids at least have a toy box full of small items that came with Happy Meals or something similar. Those are some great things for kids at rallies to amuse themselves with.

Occupy the house. You may not be able to attend rally. Maybe you can't get a sitter and you don't want to take the kids with you. Maybe you just don't have the time or the gas money to travel to a rally. Whatever the case may be, you can still spread the word from your own home because, believe it or not, there are still some people who don't know anything about the Occupy movement. You can have the kids make posters to hang in your windows to show your support. They can even use window paint to decorate the car if you're so inclined.
