The picture of health? Well, according to the latest research, if he's married, he's more likely to be healthy. In fact, marriage in and of itself is associated with so many health benefits for males, we're surprised they aren't stampeding to the altar. Take these, for example:

It's good for his bones: Well, at least for men. A brand new, and rather surprising, study from UCLA researchers reports that men who marry later in life (beyond the age of 25) have greater bone strength than unmarried men, or those who got married younger.

It may prevent a stroke: Israeli researchers found that not only are married men happier (duh!), but they have a much lower risk for having a stroke. However, for men who are unhappily married, the risk for a stroke event jumps.

It adds years to his life: Dozens of studies analyzed over the course of 140 years all point to one thing: Marriage makes men live longer. Whether it's your healthy cooking or just the fact that you make him happy, something's doing the trick.

It zaps cancer: Here's a shocker: Men who are married and diagnosed with cancer are 20 percent less likely to die from their disease than unmarried men, according to Harvard researchers.

It boosts his mental health: Wives, you are good for his mind! A slew of past research proves that compared to unmarried, divorced or widowed men, happily married guys have all kinds of lower rates of depression, sadness, anxiety and even alcohol and drug addiction issues.
