Andy Samberg is Engaged

Saturday Night Live alum Samberg and his musician girlfriend are engaged, Us Weekly reported on Monday. Rumors of their betrothal swirled when Newsom was pictured wearing her engagement ring in public for the first time on Saturday at the Independent Spirit Awards, pictured above, an event that Samberg hosted.

Samberg and Newsom began dating since 2008, when they were introduced through mutual friends. Since then, they have maintained a sweet, low-profile romance. Newsom is a noted harpist and singer, while Samberg is keeping busy post-SNL with two movies premiering later this year.

Friends of the couple described their mutual admiration to Us Weekly: "He liked her music and would go to her shows. He had the biggest crush on her," one friend stated about Samberg's initial interest, while another elaborated that Newsom "respects what he does with his songs. She's so proud of everything that he has accomplished."
