Angelina Jolie Will Direct Brad Pitt in “Powerful” New Drama

Nine years after appearing together onscreen in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are confirmed to co-star in a new movie together. Universal confirms this afternoon that the duo will appear together in a film called By the Sea, which was written and will be directed by Jolie. Universal Pictures chairwoman Donna Langley confirmed the news, adding: "Angelina continues to showcase her extraordinary storytelling abilities in front of and behind the camera, and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with her on By the Sea. . .Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood's brightest talents, and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece."

Univesal is currently producing Unbroken, Jolie's sophomore directorial effort, about Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini. Earlier this month, it was reported that Jolie and Pitt will film a joint project together-now, presumably By the Sea-in Malta.

While little is known about the drama, Jolie has revealed a few details about the script: "I wrote something a few years ago for Brad and me. . .Just for fun. Just an independent little art piece. Because we don't get to do those as much as we'd like. But it's something really small and experimental."
