Of course first thoroughly consider your finances-are you now living alone? Is rent cheaper? More expensive? Are there new expenses? Fewer expenses? Depending on how serious the relationship was, re-evaluating your finances could surely bring you down. But if it's within your budget, a post-break up shopping spree will lift your spirits and help you clasp your single life. Empower yourself and turn over a new leaf: Get some or all of these 7 buys in your cart!

1. A Career Suit

This could be your most valuable buy! Nothing boosts your self-confidence and self-worth more than suit. A pant-suit, a skirt-suit, it doesn't matter; well tailored separates can make you feel like you own the world. The biggest trend in women suits for Spring is a White separates. A bold choice but one that is tasteful and clean.

2. A Watch or Jewelry

Sure, every woman loves the romantic gesture of being given jewelry but you're single now. There's no harm in gifting yourself. Splurge on a necklace or bracelet. Or perhaps get a fancy watch to keep you on top of your busy schedule. Large faced watches convey a sense of competence and control. But more dainty feminine link watches give off an air of refinement and grace.

3. Heels

This is a no-brainer. A good pair of pumps can make any woman feel like she's on top of the world. Let the sidewalk be your runway! Trends in heels include color block, metallic toes, platform wedges and studs. But if you're concentrating your money on one pair of quality shoes, nude suede pumps go with everything casual or fancy.

4. The New iPad

Don't lie. You've been dying to get the new iPad or whatever crazy new gadget is in stores now or will be next week. Don't be shy. If it means holding off on everything else on this list then do it. Especially when you make big purchases like this one on your own, it can give you feeling of responsibility and independence.

5. A Cocktail Dress

You're single but you're not dead. Get out and mingle in a new cocktail dress. Little black dresses are nice, but stand out by pulling off celebrity status trends. The sequin dress with a short hem and long sleeves is a simple silhouette but very elegant. Are sequins too flashy? A soft and feminine blush color will grant you the same confidence. Or bold colors like Kelly Green or Orange will bring the fun and spunk to your singular look.

6. A New Piece of Furniture

If you've got a new place or more room, some new furniture can help change your space for the better. But don't just hop on the bus to the nearest Pier 1, instead, go to a local thrift store or yard sale. Find a chair or stool or whatever captures your attention and repurpose it! Turning something into a DIY project can be very self-empowering! Also, there are plenty of resources on television, the internet and even books on the subject to help you along.

7. A Haircut

Not for the faint of heart, if you really want to turn over a new leaf a haircut can be cathartic and life changing. Not a trim, ladies, but a big chop, bangs, a bold color etc. A new hairstyle will signify a new phase in your life. You won't have to go as far as a skrillex haircut (yikes!) but know that hair grows and dive in.
