Sure, every gal wishes her love life was as breathtaking as the illustrations on romance novels. But let's face it: Between the exhausting realities of doing laundry, paying bills and raising kids, many of you probably assume that those types of smoldering encounters exist only in books. Heck, you'd be lucky enough to find the time to read about these steamy scenes, much less reenact them with your equally exhausted husband. Right?
Believe it or not, those torrid tomes aren't strictly fantasy. Upon closer inspection, you'll find that they're full of smart, seductive sex moves that, with a few minor adjustments, could easily shake things up in your own modern-day boudoir.
Try some of these tips (including one perfect for those "too tired" times) and chances are, you'll be doing a lot less reading -- and a lot more lovin' -- come bedtime.
Steamy Passage # 1
"She was safe from her own headlong recklessness. No matter how tempted she might be to take this lurking passion to its natural crescendo, she knew they couldn't get too carried away. Not when, at any moment, they were expected onstage. Or so she thought -- until Mason's hand slipped up her thigh and his fingers hooked inside her panties. Charlee, no, her mind warned, but her body, her oh-so-wicked body was on fire for him."
-- License to Thrill, by Lori Wilde
How you can do it: In romance novels, unbridled passion is never put on hold. That might be a hard rule to accept in real life when you're flat-out exhausted at day's end, but there is a solution -- and it comes down to becoming a quickie connoisseur. "Sex doesn't always have to last hours and happen in your bed," says Kate Taylor, author of Life's Too Short for Tantric Sex. Instead, consider suggestively undressing in front of him before he gets off the phone with his mother (he'll hang up fast, we promise) or unleash your inner vixen as soon as he steps out of the shower in the morning.
If the five-minute window you've got before rushing your separate ways doesn't give you enough time to reach your peak, consider revving your own engine. "Most women can get aroused much faster by combining manual stimulation with intercourse," points out Taylor. Or just tell your husband in a husky voice that leaves no room for argument, "You can make it up to me this evening/this weekend." Suddenly you've set the stage for two randy encounters in record time!
