My friend and her boyfriend are in town for a visit. I'm thrilled to see them, except . . .
I live in a floor-through apartment, which means the entrance to my apartment leads into the dining room/kitchen (which is where the bathroom is located), the middle room is sort of the den/living area (this is where I keep the futon and where guests sleep), and then, through a pair of French doors, is my bedroom. So, while guests have some privacy, I do need to walk through their area to use the bathroom or leave the apartment, and the doors to my bedroom don't close ALL the way, so it's really not THAT private.
Anyway, last night, we went out for a bit, and then came back to my apartment, and I finally said goodnight around midnight. I went to my bedroom and was doing that thing where I was trying to fall asleep, even though it wasn't that easy since I heard them unpacking and getting ready in the next room.
Then I heard some unmistakable kissing noises. A lot of them. Yup. Sounds like my houseguests were getting hot and heavy. And while I know they're on vacation and I'm happy for them that they're happy, something about the whole scenario reminded me of college, when my roommate and her boyfriend would hook up on the top bunkbed while I would pretend I didn't hear what was going on.
They're staying with me for two more nights. What do you think? Should I have said something? Thrown something? Let them know it's not as private as they think? Or should I just bring my iPod to bed for the next few nights to block out any sounds?
