So, we all heard earlier this week that Richard Jefferson dumped his wife before their wedding day. "Okay, that sucks," I thought, "but at least they figured it out before they were married."
Today I was at the party store and Inside Edition or something was on and I heard that Jefferson actually dumped his fiance, Kesha Ni'Cole via email. I couldn't believe it, so I went home and started searching the internet. Sure enough, it actually happened that way.
Now we all know how I feel about dumping a person electronically but it does happen. But I figured that was just for people who were dating and wanted to take the coward's way out. Ok, I have heard someone on my forum speak about how she was told she was getting divorced over email, but I figured that was a rare anomaly. I never thought (however naively) that someone in the public spotlight would be crude enough to dump his fiance via email the eve before their wedding - KNOWING that it would get out to the public and he'd look like a tool.
Now, some of the stories I've read says that she totally forgives him and is moving on. But also, some of the stories I've read say that she was paid an undisclosed amount of money to "move on." Now if she was paid money, it may also mean that she signed a contract to "only say nice things." Not sure - that's total speculation.
And I don't really care. Here's the point of this entry:
Is this okay? Should I just accept that people are this afraid of confrontation and from now on a majority of people will end possible lifetime commitments over email? Should I end my public rant and rave about how awful it is to dump someone electronically and just roll over? (but still roll my eyes?).
What do you guys and gals think about this?
