Keeping Up With the Kardashians: Kim Goes on a Blind Date!

By Kaitlin Menza,Glamour magazine

When I think of Kim Kardashian, I do not think "unlucky in love." Maybe body-con dresses, flowing locks and that famous tush, but certainly not unlucky in love. But from the sounds of her family members on last night's episode, you'd think she was some kind of sixty-something spinster. The day I find myself pitying Kim K. is a weird one indeed:

While it was tough fighting the urge to check her out at the Emmy Awards at the same time, the episode was a juicy one. We had the Kardashian-Jenners battling it out for Lakers tickets--and finally deciding to just watch together as one big, happy fam in a big, purple PERSONAL theater. Plus, there was some random laser hair removal with Khloe and Kim (and more discussion of their nether regions).

But the big storyline was Kim's romantic life, or lack thereof. Fresh off her break-up with dreamboat Reggie Bush, she is surrounded by sisters hell-bent on popping out babies. While Kim seems OK with being single, her family couldn't stop pitying her. I felt so bad for her! Like it's not bad enough that she just broke up with a guy after four years--that she was convinced she was going to marry--she's got to have pressure from her family, too?! I couldn't handle it, even if it was exaggerated for the cameras.

In the end, she agreed to go on a blind date that her mom set up with an Armenian athlete (those girls do love the sporty guys!). Here was yet another moment on Keeping Up that you just can't fake: it was that awkward. Not terrible, not embarrassing, just so obviously lacking in chemistry. Poor Kim.

This just reaffirmed my utter fear of blind dates. I don't know how anyone can handle them! First dates are job interview-y enough, but at least you've established you're sort of into each other! But then, I've never gone on a blind date, nor have I dated online (same fear).

How about you--any blind date experience? How'd it go? Would you ever, EVER let your mom set you up on a blind date?
