    Love Yourself on Valentine’s Day

If you're single on February 14th, you need to be loving the one person who counts the most -- and that person is you!

Dr. Drew's Lifechanger and Co-Host of Loveline Simone Bienne has three ways to help focus your attention on yourself and guarantee that you don't suffer from self-pitying "single-litis" this year!

3 Ways to Treat Yourself on Valentine's Day:

    1. Get a Massage

    massagemassage

If you're feeling lonely, instead of even thinking about hooking up with an ex, go out for a massage. You get the touch, the nice scent, and you're guaranteed a good night's sleep afterward. Plus, researchers have found that massages increase the levels of our "feel good" brain chemicals -- serotonin and dopamine. They have also been found to decrease the levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.
Massages don't just feel good, they're also great for boosting your mood!

    2. Sing Loudly
Whether you go out to a karaoke bar with some single friends, or sing to yourself in the bath, sing like nobody's listening! It's fun and can be extremely empowering to just get it all out there!
Also when we sing, our brain floods us with chemicals called endorphins (our body's own natural Prozac), which has a strange way of making us feel great about ourselves!

    3. Hang Out with the Girls
A good friend beats a bad ex any day. This Valentine's Day, get together with your close friends to reminisce about all of the crazy, good memories you've shared! Not only will you feel loved and appreciated, but studies show that a woman produces more oxytocin (dubbed the hug drug) when she lunches with her girlfriends than when she's on a hot date!

I'm going to light some candles, pour a glass (or three) of riesling, order some sushi and hold the remote control all night long. I'm single so there's no man channel surfing and using my remote like an appendage lmao.

Andrea, have a happy Valentines day! and from the sound of it, it sounds like that is just what's going to happen down there in Boynton Beach! There are only 3 posts here so not too many people will know!

Now I am going to have to look up the word "riesling" as I don't know what it means. As you can see I know nothing of wines. And how does one use the "remote" like an appendage? Is this a floridian contained comparison? Because word hasn't traveled that far up north yet explaining that.

Some women are OK with being alone. They actually prefer it over a complicated relationship.

But, if a woman really wants to have a man to love her, then this singing and paying for a massage and hanging out with friends is only going to make her realize how desperately alone she really is.

Rather than trying to pretend that things are fine, a woman who wants love in her life would do well to examine why she does not have it, and then changing whatever is wrong.

Because, having someone to hold you and tell you how much you matter to them is MUCH, much better than singing off key like a fool and letting some holistic heath nut rub your spine and make you all greasy. These are three things that women do to to make it through the depression of being alone, is all. Let's not fool ourselves here.

The goal is NOT to get comfortable and even happy being alone. The goal is to find love in your life. And, this nonsense is not even a cheap substitute for it.

Ohhhh nothing like a man telling a woman which emotions are "right" and which are "wrong". :) Huge FYI John Smith: A woman can be happy and fulfilled WHILE looking for love...in fact, it's the only way to properly do it! It's unfortunate that you believe the goal is to not get comfortable and happy being alone, because life is not complete until you have done so. It's a wonderful feeling that everyone should experience. I can't even get mad at this close mindedness because in reality, it is actually very sad...(for you, though, let's not fool ourselves here) :)
