YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

" One Shot " Book Review

Okay, I don't gush but folks, I am in love...with Lee Childs main character Jack Reacher!
I have read two of the 13 he has written so far and according to the back of the book in the
info section he was at the time of this printing working on # 14.

Lee Child is a New York Times Best Selling Author. It was published by BantumDell in 2005.
I bought the paperback(I don't care for paperbacks but oh well)466 page count
and the suggested retail is $9.99.

Like I stated before he has written 13 and on his way to finishing the next one in the Reacher series
"61 Hours". The cover did not grab me this time, in fact I didn't care for it but the intro to the story did grab me and away we went! It is full of action from the get go, very fast paced and that's what I liked.
I have read books before and you wind up going, 'yeah, yeah get to the point' and I will scan/fast forward to get back into the action. NOT with this one! And what I like about it, although it is tough and 'gritty' , there isn't alot of graduitous sex scenes and over done "f---you's" etc. Believe it or not, books and movies can be good without all that.

The story is about an ex Army sharp shooter who goes into a parking garage, and from that vantage point "takes out" 5 seemingly innocent people and then calmly goes home, leaving behind enough clues that he is found and arrested within 6 hours. But when they arrest him he will not speak and when he finally does he simply says, "you've got the wrong guy. Get Jack Reacher for me." and then will not speak again. When Reacher gets there and examines all the 'perfect evidence'...it's just that, too perfect andaway we go.

Meanwhile the shooter gets beaten so badly while in jail that he goes into a coma and may not come out of it, so he is of very little help in his own defense. When he does finally come out of it he can't remember the time right before the shooting or the shooting it's self and has no recollection
that he called for Reacher. I'll tell you how much I like Reacher (and Lee Child) I made a list of all the Reacher books in the series, went to the library and have 4 more waitng for me by my chair. Another thing I like about this story...it could happen, it is believable, no weirdness involved...it could have been taken from a real crime report. Oh yeah, and there is a brief splash of romance but Reacher never stays in one place long enough to get involved...talk about a "rolling stone" and "The Lone Ranger"...
this guy is it. This is GOOD STUFF! Two thumbs up and A+A+A+A+A+

PS: Don't panic, I'm not going to review all the rest of the Reacher series...
    read them for yourself. ;0)
