Relationship Lessons from Gossip Girl: Which is Better, Passion...or Comfort?

Did you watch last night's Gossip Girl? Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) brought up a good point: Is it better to date a guy that you have combustible, I've-gotta-have-you-now chemistry with? Or a guy that just feels kinda comfortable? (Spoiler alert!)

So my roommate and I were watching Gossip Girl last night-I know, big surprise-and my favorite TV baddie, Blair Waldorf. If you've been following the show lately, you know that Blair's been on this self-destructive tirade to throw away everything from her old life: her social graces, her Type-A-ness, even the devious Chuck. Enter, Nate, a.k.a. Blair's childhood sweetheart. He offers Blair his blazer on a cold night and next thing you know, she's swoony and starts comparing their relationship to Brangelina. (Um, hilarious.) But Nate's not exactly on the same page as Blair, i.e. he gives her is a forehead kiss, which even though it's sweet, might as well have been a noogie. Well, the forehead kiss sets Blair off and she literally forces herself on top of Nate until he turns her down. Rejected and newly pensive, Blair goes all insightful on us and poses a question: With Chuck she had drama and heat; with Nate, she has familiarity. Which is better?

Btw, check out the 10 things guya are thinking when they're having sex.

Sure, every woman wants both. But haven't you gone out a time or two (or maybe even months) with a guy who was really nice, even if he didn't really get you going? Or perhaps you dated someone who did the whole sweaty-palms-'n'-butterflies thing for you, only to realize it wasn't quite enough in the long-term.

Which would you prefer if you could only choose one? The guy who you have outta-control chemistry with? Or a guy that you feel comfortable with (even if your heat is more, well, lukewarm)?

As for Blair, if you watched the whole episode, you know who she picks. But my vote's for Chuck. I miss their witty repartee.

Do you know the 5 secrets all guys keep from you?

P.S. Did you notice that the next new episode isn't until April 20th? Blarg.

Why can't it be passionate at first and then develop into a steady friendship long term? It's so boring when it starts out boring! You have you're whole life to be bored with your sig other...you should at least get to start out not being able to keep your hands off each other...then at least you have that memory

that can't keep your hands off each other feeling is one of the best experiences in life. Why live your whole life luke warm even if it doesn't work out in the end. That's basically always playing it safe....BORING!

The Chemistry guys ARE exciting, but they don't have what it takes for long term happiness. My vote goes to the true and steady guy!!

I think you need the heat- at least for awhile. Think of it like food- do want something that taste good or that just stops the hunger??? I want it to taste GOOD!!

Ideally a little from column A, a little from column B...

They say that the longer you are married the more you just end up as friends really so I would have to choose comforable reality rather than wild passion cuz long term is better than short term.

I have dated both and if only I can get one guy with both personality, I would be the happiest woman!

Sometimes when your life has been turned upside down, you just need someone steady that can hold you down and comfort you in your time of need. So I would also pick Nate even though Chuck was made for her.

Passion dies out, sadly, because real life is REAL, unless you are a vampire, lol, so it has to be realistic comfort I guess
