Although quaint and intimate with only eight guest rooms, La Maison Blanche on New York's Shelter Island still has a sophisticated edge. Reserve room 8 and you'll be treated to an enormous windowed bathroom with a large tub and separate shower. On the main floor, the eatery is sleek and wood-paneled and features an excellent wine list accompanied by a brasserie-style menu.
