I get a lot of inquiries from P.R. people these days. While I'm never going to review their products here (sorry, it's a blog about marriage and sex, not a forum to sell lubricants, vibes and the best ways to trim your nether region on the cheap) I am always interested in hearing about educational material or books.
Sadly, today's in-box letter didn't make the cut. Like many people out there, the letter was wrapped in the guise of "We really want to help relationships" but it was really just another ploy to sell alcohol. Translation: "If you can't find your soulmate from these top five tips, get drunk and screw. It helps our business; it makes you feel better about your dumb choices."
What I love about my husband is that, unlike these "trying to snow me" "media alerts" that wrap up their product in a fake-authenticity shiney red bow, Rex says it like it is. It might hurt to hear sometimes. (His packaging? A Fry's Electronic's box... covered in brown paper if I'm lucky) but the present inside holds truth. It's not refundable and it lasts forever. I know where he stands and I'm so grateful for it.
Same goes for an email I got from a rep at the TV Guide Network last month about their August 15 Sex on TV Two-Part Series. There were no gimmicks. No promises of payment if I review their show. No product geared to lengthen Rex's member or fluff my boobies for $19.99/month and three free blog reviews.
Like a great travel agent who wants you to arrive at your destination quickly and efficiently, the email smacked of just the facts. It was intriguing enough that I will share it with you.
* Note: I'm not affiliated with this station. I'm not getting paid to say this. I am not even getting a lifetime supply of TV Guide Magazine. Do they even print that anymore? The last one I saw was when I was during my 1983 Ricky Schroeder obsession. Somewhere in my mom's attic is a thumb worn copy of "The Rickster" holding a shiny Silver Spoon. Who else remembers that show? Moving on... JUST THE FACTS.
Show: Sex On TV
Network: The TV Guide Network
When: Sunday, August 15
Content: " TV Guide Network is taking a look at the history of sex on the small screen in its two-part special Sex on TV. Gidget and I Dream of Jeannie pushed the envelope by showing off their stars in risqu -for-the-time bikinis; these days, shows like Desperate Housewives andDancing with the Stars flaunt their stars nearly nude. The special will feature clips and commentary that discuss such monumental TV moments as the first same-sex kiss and the first bare bottom. The special is hosted by Desperate Housewives' Brenda Strong."
Sounds interesting. I will try and catch it. If I don't, would love to hear if you did.
In closing, I'd love to hear from you! Unless you want me to review your dating website, your lesbian camp getaway or your personal plan to combine cleaning closet clutter along with my overly crowded brain. (Note: No offense to singles, lesbians who like to hike or organizational gurus. All wonderful people - it's just not what my column is about. Though I'm quite sure Sex on TV will cover some of those topics!)
