Scientists have long known that men are biologically built to check out certain features on a woman-like their hips or hair-to figure out if she's healthy. (It's left over from their cavemen days, when males were choosing mates and had to look for visual cues that the female was fertile and would be a good future mama.)
But researchers just discovered some surprising new information about how men-and in fact, everyone else-judge us ladies.

It turns out, people may be hardwired to look at the whites of your eyes, and judge you based on how white they actually are. Yeah, we know, it sounds a little crazy, but according to a new study published in the journal Ethology, humans subconsciously associate bloodshot eyes with being unhealthy and reproductively not as appealing.
We're not saying that if you meet some dude the day after sleeping only a few hours and the whites of your eyes aren't so white, he'll automatically be disinterested. But according to the press release about the study, the color of your sclera (that's the whites) "provides even casual, untrained observers with a quick estimate of the emotional and health status of an individual." It goes on to explain that not only do people notice the color, but it affects their behavior and actions toward that person.
