After six years of adorable red carpet appearances, one precious daughter, and many promises to seal the deal once same-sex marriage became legal, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have finally tied the knot.
The couple, who got engaged in late 2009 after Shepard proposed with a Neil Lane engagement ring, exchanged vows at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's Office on Thursday as Bell cried tears of joy. According to Us Weekly, Bell and Shepard went to the office just to obtain a marriage license, but then took up a court employee's offer to marry them on the spot in a nearby courtroom.

It was a somewhat anticlimactic event given how excitedly Bell "re-proposed" in June after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act. Her declaration of love followed their many years of adamantly waiting to get married until same-sex couples could, as well.

"I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends," Bell said in August 2012. "It's just kind of rude to invite everyone to a party for a rite not everyone can hold."
Though we would have loved to see Bell in a wedding dress or their daughter Lincoln as the flower girl, we're just happy to hear about how joyful the day was for them. Maybe they will throw a second ceremony and reception (it is the trend these days, after all) so they can celebrate with family and friends? Fingers crossed! Congratulations!
