What's 15 carats large and completely covered in emerald-cut diamonds? If you guessed Ciara's new engagement ring (above) from rapper-beau Future, you are correct! And if you're having some serious déja vu, you're not the only one.
In the spirit of our recent Dream Wedding Dress Showdown, we thought we'd take a moment to compare Ciara and Kim Kardashian's new left-hand rocks. After all, it's not every day we come across two 15-carat beauties like these.
Let's start with the cut: Ciara's engagement ring is made up of multiple emerald-cut diamonds, while Kim's is a solitaire comprised of one cushion-cut stone (albeit an enormous one).

Kim's ring has a more delicate setting-Kanye said he wanted it to look like Kim's center stone was "floating on air," so jeweler Lorraine Schwartz designed it with a thin band. This means there's little else competing for the attention of that flawless center stone. Meanwhile, Ciara's ring has a hefty eternity-style band with sizable diamonds set all the way around her finger. Ciara's ring certainly throws more light, but we can't help but wonder if that gorgeous center stone gets lost in the crowd.
Both Kanye and Future had active roles in the design of their future brides' rings. Ciara's ring "is a very intricate design which took longer to actually design than it did to produce," says a rep for Avianne & Co (the jeweler who designed Ciara's ring). "We went through several molds and concept models before landing on the proper design, which allowed for maximum shine and stability in the diamonds." Kanye recently told a radio show that "I worked with four different jewelers. Three rings were made, only one actually hit (Kim's) finger. That ring was, like, less than four hours old by the time I gave it to her."
Since neither A-list couple has yet to set a wedding date, it's too soon to sight comparisons with regards to Ciara and Kim's actual weddings. It's worth noting, however, that the bar has been set high and continues to rise. As more and more celebrities get engaged, it seems as though the size of their engagement rings will continue to be a point of competition. Call us old fashioned, but we're still enamored by the concept of a simple one-carat brilliant-cut solitaire on a classic gold band.
