The hunky singer gave McCaffrey a three-carat diamond solitaire engagement ring during what was already a festive event.
"I found out Nareesha was planning a surprise party on my birthday with her family so I thought [it was] perfect," Kaneswaran told the U.K.'s Hello! magazine. "I'd bought the ring months before I'd been trying to figure out the right time."
As for his absolutely tear-inducing proposal, Kaneswaran turned the tables on his unsuspecting love.
"I said to her I wanted a present I would always remember this year by...for you to be my wife," he said. "It was like a military operation to plan the proposal. I couldn't even tell the other boys in the band in case they blew the surprise."
"I love her, I love every bit of her," Kaneswaran added. Though she obviously echoed his feelings by saying yes, she wasn't totally thrilled by her surprise engagement. According to Kaneswaran, he almost fainted when McCaffrey initially said a quick no-luckily, she had a (somewhat) good reason for doing so.
"I don't like surprises and he really surprised me, but I was so happy," she says. "I can't wait to start planning the wedding."
Neither can we! Ever since One Direction's Zayn Malik got engaged to Perrie Edwards over the summer, we've had boy band wedding fever. But The Wanted have had their own TV show, The Wanted Life on E!, so we're even more giddy thinking that Kaneswaran and McCaffrey might even televise their wedding like former boy band member Lance Bass and fellow E! alum Kim Kardashian.
That might be a stretch, but we'll remain optimistic. Congratulations to the happy couple!
