The nautical star of The Dirty Bounty Trilogy; inset: the real Aaron Traister
[Ed. note: We asked Whys Guy Aaron Traister to make a case for winning the 2013 Hottest Husbands in America contest. We will neither confirm nor deny if the trip to Bali is still up for grabs after this incredibly compelling entry.]
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Profession: I write potboiler romance novels, and my most recent series is called The Dirty Bounty Trilogy. TDBT is about a turn-of-the-century sea captain and the forbidden love he shares with his wealthy employer's mistress-an exotic and mysterious woman with a glass eye and an extra finger who is only known around their small fishing village as "Cheyenne." Will the sea captain discover the secrets of Cheyenne's mysterious past before their employer, the corrupt beef baron Dieter McVanderslaw, holds their love hostage on the high seas? Find out in book one: The Heaving Swells

(TDBT are self-published "e-books," and they are only available at my "email:" ARTraister@TheAdventuresofCaptainO'Sexy.com.)
I also write a monthly column and blog for this here magazine and website (but that totally shouldn't disqualify me).
Family: Married 100 years with too many red-headed children to count at the moment.

The top five reasons Aaron Traister should be REDBOOK's Hottest Husband:
Raw power: Aaron has the endurance of a cow and the strength of several smaller, weaker men. He can carry heavy three-year-olds for almost a mile. His ropey muscles are a sight to behold, so he spends most of his summer parading around the neighborhood in nothing but short shorts. His wife is proud and not at all embarrassed by this.
Sensitivity: With the aforementioned raw power comes raw sensitivity. Aaron has tremendous depth not usually associated with men his age. He is like a pond of emotions, and his wife is forced to bath in that pond everyday. Sometimes he cries when he thinks about baby birds.
The Gift of Song: Aaron Traister has beautiful singing voice. Aaron serenades his wife with early '90s R&B standards like H-Town's "Knockin' Da Boots" and Silk's "Freak Me." He does this every night without fail no matter how many times she asks him-in a bedroom voice-to "Please stop, I need to get some sleep. Why do you have to be so weird?"

Young and With It: Aaron's wife loves that Aaron is so youthful and hip. Aaron is on the Twitter and off the Facebook. Aaron watches and enjoys HBO's Girls. In fact, he is so youthful and ahead of the backlash against that show that he just skipped ahead to appreciating how it captures some sort of zeitgeist with which he is intimately involved and understands completely. He's just so young and down with the Girlsyouth culture, and not in the creepy, balding old guy leering at a TV show type of way. #Youjustmetmeandthisiscrazy
A Lover, a Father, and a Fighter: I'm sort of jamming all of these together at the end, but I'm not sure any of them are as important as enjoying the HBO series Girls. The point is, Aaron loves his kids and bakes them stuff sometimes and whatever. And Aaron is a good husband and cleans up cat puke every once and while blah blah blah. And Aaron fights for what he believes in, like baby birds and a free trip to Bali.
