How could she say no?
Musician Matt Hulbert enlisted the help of actor Zach Braff—and a cast of bunnies, friends, family, and others—to help with an elaborate proposal to his girlfriend, Janice Fletcher, in a heart-warming four-minute video which was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday night.
Hulbert asks Fletcher to play the video and she's shocked when Braff pops up the screen. The "Scrubs" star opens the video by saying, "[Matt] asked me to help him with a little question he'd like to ask you, Janice...He knows...that he never became the rock star that he promised you he would become...But he's hoping you can overlook that and he'd like you to please consider being his wife."
What follows Braff’s cameo is a montage of the couple’s loved ones holding up signs urging her to “say yes” with an original song by Hulbert as the soundtrack.
Hulbert writes in the YouTube description, “I wanted to show her that not only do I love her but that she's loved by all our friends and family too. This was particularly important as she hasn't been able to see much of her family for 7 years since she moved to the UK and she misses them lots.”
Adding to the cuteness factor of the clip, which already has more than 260,000 views in less than 24 hours, is the small screen showing Janice's emotional reactions throughout the video and the climactic moment when Hulbert actually pops the question.
Braff got involved in the proposal project after Hulbert donated to a Kickstarter campaign for the actor's "Garden State" sequel, "Wish I Was Here". Those who pledged money for the film were offered a variety of perks including t-shirts, advanced screenings, meet and greets, and a personal video message from Braff himself, and Hulbert took him up on the last offer. He wrote, “Like me, Janice is a huge fan of "Scrubs," so I knew it would blow her away.”
Hulbert's funny, moving creation is a gold medal winner in the epic marriage proposal Olympics besting his predecessors with this celebrity cameo. Flash mobs, live lip-dubs, and tweeting senators have all been left in the dust.
And, duh, she said yes.
