In a relationship of the magnitude of marriage, there are many stresses, family issues, life issues and time crunches that stop a married couple from being as romantically involved as they once were; trust me - I've been married nearly 20 years. The idea of courting and dating is something that's a distant memory and real life situations often take hold of all the extra time to love each other the way you used to. It's not that love ends with marriage, but it changes and moves to an entirely different level. When romance takes a back seat, you need to make time for lust and flirting.
Making Time At Dinner - Those moments at dinner can move from a time when everyone just sits and eats to a social engagement. When a married couple wants to spark their lust, kids can get in the way. Once a week, set the kids up with a kid's table in another room. Sure, they may make a huge mess, but during the small amount of time alone the married couple can talk about things other than the newest Legos and the best in toddler toons.
After Dinner Engagement - Once dinner is through, it's time to clean up the mess. One of the best ways to inject a little lust or romance into a relationship is through playful activities during everyday activities. A kiss on the neck at the sink, or a brush of the hand when the table is being cleared; these are signs of love, ever so lightly, and these are the things that cause the littlest spark that eventually leads to a bigger case of lust.
Those Late Nights - After the kids are in bed and life is a bit calmer, take notice of the normal activities in your life. These activities are prime real estate for love. Whether it is watching TV or reading a book, sitting close to each other, holding hands or simply sitting and talking about the show you are watching are all ways to reconnect with the one you love and sometimes reconnecting is the answer to a boring love life.
Bring Back the Public Affection - When you were younger, holding hands in public and kissing at every twist and turn of life was normal. As you age and the marriage grows, these things fall to the way side in exchange for holding your kid's hands and shopping as quickly as you can before the next fit. Take back that time and show the world how much you love each other. Kissing in public is perfectly okay; just keep the kiss to an acceptable public style. You may be surprised just how hot a simple kiss in public makes you feel.
Rekindling a marriage does not mean taking long trips and expensive vacations. It simply means giving back to one another in the most subtle of ways. These gifts will not go unnoticed and, over time, will bond the married couple closer and closer until the day finally arrives when love is second nature again and your kids think you kissing in public is gross. Mine do!
