Ole Kirk Christiansen, LEGO inventor-
We know LEGO blocks have taken over the lives (and homes!) of many parents and kids. Children can thank Ole Kirk Christiansen, a Danish carpenter who began creating wooden toys in the 1920s. He founded LEGO in 1932, but the company turned to plastic blocks in 1949. And so began the first of many times parents would step on LEGO blocks with bare feet in the middle of the night.
