I'm with you "girliusmaximus"...majority of the time my husband leaves more messes around the house than my 3 kids do. Why they leave shoes and shirts everywhere....I have no idea.

Right on CandyA.... My house is always a mess. And the sad part is I live with several adults and no one cleans up their messes... SMH

Flylady.com. she introduced me to handling the CHAOS(can't have anyone over syndrome) 15 minutes @ a time. Her babysteps are what keep me organized.

I don't stay organized. My place is a disaster. I never have the time or desire to keep anything organized...

To stay organized, I follow the old tried and true "a place for everything, and everything in it's place." Keys are always hung on hooks that are right at front door, back packs in front closet on hook, shoes in caddy in closet, etc. And shelves with canvas organizers in the kids' rooms keep toys off the floor, and make straightening easier.

As for staying tidy, I don't procrastinate. I don't put off ANYTHING that I could do right away, e.g., I always put dishes in the washer right away, rather than letting them pile up 'til after dinner. I wipe down the shower every day to keep it looking nice, that way I only have to spray it down once every other week and walk away, rather than scrubbing for an hour or more to remove soap scum and mildew every week. I pick up anything that is out of place and put it away immediately (so long as no one is still using it). Even though this means I do a little more each day, it keeps things from piling up and becoming a huge three hour chore. And I get the benefit of a neat, tidy home everyday, and that is very relaxing.
