My favorite was a canned pear half, raisins for eyes, coconut for wiskers and carrot sticks for ears = bunny.

How fun! I have been making japanese O bento style lunches for my daughter when I have the time and she loves the fun looking food!

My children LOVE taking their bento style lunches to school , they are the hit of the lunchroom! And they have a little of everything instead of a plain sandwich which = no leftovers, healthier than school lunches, and even my picky eaters will try everything in a bento.

That is great :) I have fun making them too!

Great ideas, I like the fact that you are encouraging parents to spend time with their children. I just happen to find it a little sexist that you happen to call this session "Moments of Motherhood" I happen to take a very active part in raising my two sons and we do all sorts of things together, such as cook, arts and crafts, board games, math and reading and sports. Please modernize your 1970's name!

Kudos to you!! Your sons are very lucky!

Advertising is the last institution allowed to show rampant sexism. Women are always scrubbing floors - cooking meals etc. When we all know that Dad's are equally as active in these activities. Shame on ad companies for not being more in touch with today's America.

Years ago I used to make holiday sandwiches for the kids. Just use an appropriate cookie cutter to cut the sandwich.

The "handwiches" were kinda cool, but I really don't think I want to put sharp, inedible objects like whole cloves into a kids food.

So poke 'em with a pencil and push some peas or little sprigs of broccoli or cauliflower into the holes. Or M&Ms.

Why would you ever put anything inedible on a child's snack?!

I did not watch. I have participated often.

Is this the best that they can do????

I'm sure they are capable of better BUT this is an activity a parent is supposed to do with a small child. So yes, what they did is perfectly fine. If your child is more artsy or creative then go for something more complicated.

Yes, I understand..."activity with a child" and I kept that in mind with my comment. As a preschool and kindergarten teacher, I personally have many more ideas better than these....even for tots.

Yes, it really IS the best they can do. Don't be so critical; you'll hurt their self-esteem.

Dont't garnish a plate with stuff that a kid or an adult is not going to eat. Those garnishes are so pungent. Who would eat a whole clove, chive stem or wad of rosemary in tomato soup. Are you looking to turn a kid on or off to food? Also it an awful lot of bread for a kid at one sitting. Maybe cute and whimsical but how about a lesson in not being wasteful.

So Stupid - why use whole cloves that should NOT be eaten.

I love the breakfast pizza on a waffle idea!

Seems like a lot of food was wasted in these "snacks".

Switch the eyes and nose to raisins. Never put inedible things like cloves in kids foods. Possible choaking hazard.

It is a game of logistics.

I feel the bread would be dried out by the time I made all the mice. Cute though.

What a waste of perfectly good food.
