I would love to put my kids in YOGA. My kids have ADHD, I would try anything to slow them down.
Is there a kids YOGA in Houston?

Yoga? Much better if it is called Meditation & Excercise yes it is very good up building a kids to know how to balance everything while he is still young then. But the best is teaching them how to read the Bible see what life is really is while reading the true to life stories of the Prophets & people history back & how to handle dificult times when it arise!

On my view point this kid is a distractive when he grow-up, every time your tear-up the paper he enjoys it ,I think it is not normal you can see to a kid who he is while his still young ,who he will be when he goes old. Now a days abnormal is normal as the Bible said we are living in last days people is very different not like before years of my Mom people quite normal not like today ,we see people do abnormal things thinking it is normal feeling it is normal! See!

My kids LOVE Yoga. They have classes at my gym for them and they will do it with me and even just when they are at home. They love to try new poses!!! The classes at the gym make it fun for them and helps them remember the names of the poses (sometimes they have alternative animal names, too). I started teaching them Yoga when they were 2 and 5 and they are now 5 and 8 and they appreciate the practice and how it "feels good" to them and is helpful in their sports activities as they both deal with difficulties focusing. I have told them when they have a hard time focusing, remember how you have to focus on something to stay balanced in yoga class and they go, "Oh, yeah"!!!

I teach yoga to children, it's wonderful to work with them for fun, mental, physical and emotional health. Children just love the music, games, poses and art I include in my program. My yoga practice also includes working with special children helping to increase self-esteem and confidence. Actually yoga helps all children and adults. Working with pre/post pregnant women is also very rewarding. Parents who support and love yoga find that their children benefit from their own practice with mommy's and daddy's that participate too. Come join us, try a yoga kids class, try a parent class, have fun, relax, laugh a lot and learn how to stop and smell the roses. What a wonderful way to exercise with your children, everyone wins!! Did you know we can do yoga outside too? Incorporate the enviornment around them, the children learn to assist/help each other, and become a part of a peace loving world. Namaste, sharon (you can tell I am truly passionate about working with children and parents; yoga is one way to watch your family grow together) Have a beautiful day!

While I homeschooled my kids, I looked for alternatives to the PE classes offered in school. At that time, PBS aired yoga with Lilith in the mornings, and it was a great addition to our day. I highly recommend it.

I think yoga for kids is great. My 15-year-old son has Aspergers, and yoga helps him with his focus and concentration. My 12-year-old daughter also takes it. The three of us go to class together. It's a great family activity that gives us immense benefits. If only we could talk my husband into it!

Yoga is for everyone, but I think that the benefits for children are obvious. This mini report focused a lot on concentration (which kids now have a lot of problems with), but there are so many health benefits as well. With fewer and fewer kids getting to have unlimited access to the outdoors these types of activities are becoming increasingly important.

Yoga is a fabulous method for teaching children how to quiet their minds and focus on their bodies. It also teaches good practices of controlled breathing. I think public and private schools should indroduce yoga to students instead of competitive sports. It is overall less harmful to the body and good for the mind.

My son takes Tae Kwon Do, and before they start to really work. They have all the kids sit and meditate. I have also turned on the yoga from the on demand exercise programs. He liked doing them, but said some of the poses were hard. I think it is good for the children to slow down for a short time, and do some exercise. Even if you get your kids to stretch 10 mins a day that is a good thing.

my 10 yo daughter just started doing yoga with me. i use it as part of my weekly exercise regimen. she just thought it looked cool and wanted to try it. now i wish i would have started it with her years ago. she is super intelligent (not just a biased mom's opinion, she's working on an advanced curriculum at school and practically absorbs new info like a sponge!), but lacks concentration and focus. yoga is great for that. we work on regulating her breathing and trying to perfect her method. pretty soon my 7 yo old boy will be joining us!

Extra bonus points for yoga: Not an expensive undertaking, because you don't have to take classes, you can learn poses online or from books/DVD's at the library. It can be done alone or in groups, by both genders (though older boys prefer when it's called strength/body training)!
