Get the most from your skin care

Women know skin care matters or they wouldn't spend billions of dollars every year on their face and body. Scoffers that think such measures make little difference don't know what we know! Good skin care improves your appearance and how you feel about yourself. However, even if your spending habits rival the Kardashians, it won't matter if you apply the products in the wrong order. Getting the most from your skin care could be as simple as changing the order of application.

Cleanser first, ladies; no shortcuts! Start with a clean slate. Even makeup-free days should end with a freshly scrubbed skin. When you cleanse the skin, you open the pores and remove dead skin cells, making later product application more successful.

Tone it up. Toning removes any residue makeup or oils left behind by your cleanser. Many cleansers contain toner so you might not need extra. Women with really dry skin could skip this step too.

Repair your skin. Next, you should repair natural skin damage. This is usually an oil-free serum containing vitamins like E and K. Vitamin E keeps the skin lubricated while K reduces dark spots.

Lift your eyes. Here's where the eye cream comes in. Apply gel to the eyelids to sooth burning and reduce puffiness. If you need an eye lift, tap on the cream over the eyebrows and on the outside perimeter of the eyes. I love Votre Vu's Tout Le Monde's Eye Gel. (It feels terrific and works wonders on my natural puffiness.)

Banish those wrinkles. Dab on the wrinkle cream around your eyes and mouth. You won't need to apply the cream or lotion to the whole face, just the areas that need some extra love.

Treat your neck, hands and décolletage. This finishing touch makes me feel pampered; I'm sure it will you too. Women often forget these areas but did you know that your neck can look ten years older than you actually are? Hands work hard so give them special care.
