You know you've imagined what it would be like to date a rich older man…just admit it. As long as you truly like the guy for who he is, there is nothing wrong with dating someone who is rich and older. Although dating a rich older man comes with several advantages like financial security, it is not all fun and games. Dating a guy who's older and rich does come with some drawbacks that you should consider.
He might be a workaholic
If he did not just inherit all of his money, it is likely that he has to work hard to stay wealthy. He might be so dedicated to his work that he does not spend as much time with you as you'd like. Instead of eating a romantic dinner with you on a Friday night, he is stuck at the office. It can get really lonely spending so much time by yourself.
He might think he has power over you
Because he makes a lot money, he might just think he has some power and control over you. He may believe that he can tell you what to do because he is the breadwinner. Dating a man with money isn't worth it if he wants to have all the power in the relationship.
People might think you're a gold digger
Even if you have the best intentions, some people will assume you are a gold digger. They might think you're only with your guy because he has a lot of money. His friends, your friends or even strangers can make this assumption about you. It can be really difficult to be with someone when people around you think you're just after his millions.
Although there are some negatives to dating a rich older man, it does not mean you can't have a successful relationship with one. If you truly like the guy and he likes you and shows you respect, you can make the relationship work.
