Watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt serve Stephen Merchant and Jimmy Fallon in a lip-sync battle

During last night’s episode of the “Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon,” the host engaged in a lip-sync-off with guests Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Stephen Merchant.

A lip-sync-off, as explained by Fallon, is a competition where contestants go head-to-head lip-synching to famous songs in an effort to out do the competition. The end result in most people’s cases is as awkard as being caught singing into your hairbrush -- but in the hands of these three comedy pros, it’s nothing short of spectacular.

British comedian Stephen Merchant, who was appearing to promote his new HBO comedy “Hello Ladies,” kicked off the battle. He set the bar high with his rendition of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince’s 1993 magnum opus “Boom Shake The Room.”

Fallon followed with a fun-fuelled performance of an '80s classic by Human League. Then Gordon-Levitt, who was promoting his directorial debut "Don Jon," wowed the crowd with a high-energy performance of “Tiny Dancer” complete with a rock ’n’ roll knee slide.

But that wasn't all. Merchant returned to the stage to deliver a booty-shaking rendition of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” only to be trumped once again by JGL's performance of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass."

This is just the latest bit from Fallon who’s recent “Breaking Bad” parody went viral. The host is renowned for his onstage collaborations with everyone from Carly Rae Jepsen to President Obama.
