Orange and black: The color combo for fall

Orange and black is without a doubt a fall color combination. The bold contrast and easy association with Halloween makes it difficult to pull off any other time of the year, but now that this season is in full swing the following looks can really pack a punch.

Classy, not a costume: One way to avoid costume connotations is to keep the contrast subtle. How do you do that with two bold hues? The best way is to add a metallic hue to the mix. Gold offers the balance that can really tie a look together. Pair a black maxi skirt with a long sleeved striped t-shirt, wrap with an orange belt, wear gold ballet flats and then throw on an orange circle scarf like this Luxury Diva infinity scarf.

Casual comfort in black and orange: Choose casual black and orange separates for a laid back look. Start with a pair of trendy print pants like these Nine West snake skin jeans. Now you can add a sleek Merrel Angelic orange sweater, chunky motorcycle boots and a black jacket to complete the weekend look. Touches of studded accessories can help to dress up the look, while a soft off white scarf can add a feminine touch, not to mention warmth!

Head to the office in stylish black and orange: Start with a solid black button down shirt and an orange skirt. Not Your Daughter's Jeans Emma skirt features basic five pocket style or if your budget allows, this Kate Spade orange skirt is a pretty option. You can then pile on dramatic touches with geometric accessories and a black patent leather belt and pumps.

Hit the town in fashion-forward style: Bold colors and color blocking are both hot trends right now. Use this fact to your advantage when dressing up for a night on the town. A pair of sequined black shorts can be paired with a funky orange blouse like this VAVA by Joy Han Carmen embellished off the shoulder number. Add chandelier earrings, bangle bracelets and a sparkly clutch purse for your accessories and then wear solid black opaque tights and black wedge booties to finish off the fashion-forward black and orange look.

This is a color combination with a deadline. Once the season has passed, it is best to wear black and orange separates separately. But their brief spicy connection will give you an A+ in fall fashion.
