- What is RSS?
-
RSS — “Really Simple Syndication” — is really just that: a simple way for web site developers to publish headlines and frequently updated content as a web feed. And it's an easy way for users to receive this content that you want, in one spot. It will show up in your RSS reader and will be updated automatically.
A web feed is a low-bandwidth, stripped down version of a web site that readers can subscribe to using a RSS reader or aggreggator. Yahoo! web feeds all conform to the RSS 2.0 specification and thus we refer to our feeds simply as RSS feeds.
Most Yahoo! RSS feeds have a single static URL, often an XML file, for example:

RSS allows you to get updates on topics of your choice without having to go to the separate websites hosting the information. This is where the “simple” comes in; you will be subscribing to a variety of “feeds” and receive updated versions of all your chosen information in one easy to access location.
My Yahoo automatically adds RSS feeds to your My Yahoo! page, or if you already use a RSS reader of your own, you can choose that reader. All you need to do is subscribe to the specific topics you want to know about.
Add as many feeds as you like and enjoy the convenience of finding all your updated content in one place. Once you have subscribed, the feed(s) will start showing up automatically in your reader, and you can read them whenever you log into My Yahoo!.
