    10 Places Kids Eat Free

Last summer, the slow economy spurred restaurants to try to pull in cash-strapped families with offers of free meals for kids. Maybe it's a good sign for the economy that for the summer of 2010, fewer national or regional chains appear to be offering similar deals. But we still found 10 popular restaurants offering families a meal out without emptying their wallet.

Note: These specials vary from restaurant to restaurant and are subject to change at any time. The sample deals are real listings, but may not apply to the specific restaurants in your area. (Sometimes, the deal in your area might even be better.)

    Applebee's
Sample deal: On Mondays, get one free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult entrée.

    Captain D's
Sample deal: On Thursdays, get two free kid's meals with any adult entree purchase, dine in only.

    Chevys
Sample deal: On Tuesdays, get one free kid's meal with one adult entrée, dine-in only.

    Denny's
Sample deal: Up to two kids 10 and younger eat free with each adult purchase of $2.50 or more, from 4pm to 10pm on select nights.

    Dickey's Barbecue Pit
Sample deal: On Sundays, one child eats free with the purchase of an adult entrée.

    Lone Star Steak House
Sample deal: On Tuesdays, up to two kids eat free with the purchase of one adult entrée.

    Luby's
Sample deal: Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée, typically on a weekday evening after 4:30pm. Check lubys.com for a list of when each restaurant features the promotion.

    Marie Callender's
Sample deal: Get one free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult entrée on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

    Perkins
Sample deal: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 10pm, get one free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult entrée.

    Steak 'n Shake
Sample deal: On Saturdays and Sundays, get one free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult entrée of $9 or more. Dine-in only.

      NOTHING is EVERY FREE!
      SOMEONE SOMEWHERE is paying.
in this case, i'm thinking waistline.
the foods those places make are UNHEALTHY -- sadly on the kids menu!
get your kids started w/ healthy eatting and they won't like the artery clogging junk.

I was just wondering where the FREE groceries are????? I keep seeing that it is free to eat at home, but from where I am sitting, I have to go buy the groceries, prepare them, clean up and wash them, and that is def NOT free!! I have to use power to cook it, and water and soap to clean it, and none of that is free either!! I have THREE kids and they desevre a treat every now and then, and it is nice to be able to take them out and not go broke!!

As for bratty kids - stop feeding them garbage and watch their behavior improve!

o.k these are great places to eat and for all the people complaining about staying away from these places just because families will be there with lets see how did some people put yes " unrulely brat children" . grow up people. let the kids be well lets see kids instead of little adults. our two children ( 8 & 6) hardly ever act up in public places because we have taken the time to teach our kids the proper way that we behave in public and table manners. the only reason there may be a meltdown is because my 8 year old is autistic and certain smells( Like a bathroom air freshener at IHOP) is too much on her sensitive senses or because food is not the texture she likes. Hopefully you children when and if you have them will be just perfect little angels that never act up just had to put my two cents in thank you.

For everyone complaining about bratty kids, shut up! Yes some people do have bratty kids because they don't parent right. But some kids actually do have disorders. I'm a great parent and I'm an educator, but you must be one of those people that assume my child is a brat & that I need to discipline him when in fact he's Autistic and simply doesn't understand. Even people like me need to get out of the house and enjoy ourselves. Would you prefer I stay locked up in my house 24/7? Maybe you should be more understanding instead of judge. This could happen to you one day. Autism is happening more & more these days affecting 1 out of 70 boys.

For god sakes sometimes it is just nice to go out and eat and not have to cook all the time. I work my butt off at work and sometimes it is nice to take my two kids out and maybe get them to eat free. I am so sorry that I am not rich and I cant always go out to eat like some of you. I am really offended by some of these comments on here. The comment box is to help parents that cant afford but like to take there kids out every once in a while find out where to possibly find somewhere cheaper. If you dont like it then dont read about it. You obviously went in here to read about it and knew what it was about before you even started to read it so duh if you think it is stupid then dont even click on it. Just shutup.
