City lifeCity lifeWhen I go to Manhattan, even for just a day, there's always a small part of me that wants to stay. There are real bagels there! And you can walk out at any time of night and find something to eat. And oh, what would it be like to raise a city kid!

I'll never know because as much as New York City jerks at my heart, I come crashing back down to planet earth when I return home to the country. I don't think my kid will be any worse for it. But I won't lie. I know the children of friends who live in urban areas are different from my own.

I grew up in the city and this list is WAY off. I think the writer wrote this based on the tv version of New York City.

Wow... I know this list is supposed to be 'funny', but it's so off my husband and I were left gaping at my computer screen. Having grown up in Los Angeles I can tell you most of this list is completely FALSE.

This is just for NY. I grew up in LA and it was nothing like that.

      Sounds kind of depressing.

Actually, it was a lot of fun. When I was a kid we'd go to the park that was 1200 acres and has over 10 museums and 5 playgrounds, or we'd go down to the bay, or we'd go down town to the mall. In atlanta, if you need plumbing supplies at 2 a.m., something is open. If you want a fat greasy cheeseburger, you can find one. Not depressing at all! It was all sorts of fun and never a dull day.

I was a city kid, and this is way off. I will say, however, that city kids are more accepting and diverse than suburban kids. I'm gonna get a lot of crap for saying that, but it's true. The worst is when I'm on the bus or walking downtown, and the suburbanites will whisper to themselves, "I hope we don't get mugged. Omg, this is so scary." Seriously. Happens all the time. You can spot them a mile away, with their North Face jackets, Vera Bradley bags, and the fear in their eyes.

lol about the Northface Jacket! I was in NYC and pretty much everyone was wearing one! I've lived in Miami, Atlanta and San Diego and oh man, these suburban kids are such wussies! I like my jacket because it fits me well, the vera bradley bag? I'll pass.

I may be a little biased, but I think the suburbs are the best places to raise children. I grew up here, and I can respect city and country life (somewhat). My grandmother lived on a farm, and I always loved visiting her. The stars were beautiful and it was so peaceful and elusive there. But on the other hand, I would visit the city to see my father. He lives in
St. Louis, and every summer and once a month, I enjoy life there. I love the towering buildings, the constant chatter, the diverse people. So I think that both have something to offer. However, I say the suburbs are the best places to live because it's a combination of a quiet life and city bustle. The people are as diverse as they are in the city, and so there are different cultures that my future children will enjoy.

i grew up in the country and live outside Cincy, OH, or in the suburban area. i can tell a major difference between city folk and country folk.... i rather have the country side ANY day than all that city drama. city kids in my opinion have different attitude, country kids can actually kick back and relax. but that is my opinion though. true, country does not have all the "city life, entertainment, drama" of the city, but we like to be able to walk down our roads and not worry about a "drive by", #$%$, "strangers walking up to your cars", parking drama, more wrecks, crazy roads, ect... in the country we get to relax, some times we can leave our doors unlocked and can actually enjoy a quiet and i mean quiet evening without all that city noise. true, going to the city is nice to visit, but give me my peace of mind at home and night please......
