Was running or jogging your favorite form of exercise before you had a baby? Don't let motherhood keep you from tying up the laces on your running shoes. With a rugged, three-wheel jogging stroller, you can bring your child with you on a run. It's true that top-of-the-line models top $300 or even $500, but Cheapism has found three comfortable, safe, and smooth-riding buggies for as little as $160.

Jeep Overland LimitedThe Jeep Overland Limited (starting at $175) has a 16-inch fixed front wheel that keeps the stroller stable while your child rides in the reclining seat. The fixed wheel makes cornering in tight spaces tricky, but the upside is a better experience for serious runners. This relatively lightweight unit (26.4 pounds) also boasts a handbrake for added control. Extra features include a removable sound system and a pedometer. The child's seat can recline into five different positions and has an adjustable canopy. While some online reviewers are disappointed by the performance of the extras (a common complaint in this category), they rave about the stroller's smooth ride on all types of terrain.

Schwinn Turismo SwivelThe Schwinn Turismo Swivel Wheel Jogger (starting at $176), with its swiveling front wheel, is the best all-around choice for both jogging and everyday outings. The 12-inch front wheel locks into place for exercising. The aluminum frame contains an MP3 sound system and the multi-position padded seat can recline to a flat position. Reviewers report that their children seem to enjoy the ride. This model is also available as a side-by-side double stroller.

Instep Safari DoubleThe InStep Safari Swivel Double Jogging Stroller (starting at $160) can carry up to 100 pounds between its two seats. The 12-inch swiveling front wheel locks into place for better control at high speeds. Reviewers note that this side-by-side stroller is heavier than single strollers and sometimes too bulky to fit through doors; a single model is also available. Generally the double earns positive feedback for both jogging and walking. The seats recline separately and also have their own trays, pads, and canopies.
Although the Schwinn Turismo and and InStep Safari swivel wheel joggers lack the handbrake and fixed front wheel of a dedicated jogging stroller, their swiveling front wheels deliver much better maneuverability around corners and around town. The ability to unlock the wheel could be a selling point if you're looking for an everyday stroller that can also be used for brisk walks or jogging. However, even with the lock in place, you may find the stroller pulling to the left or right as you increase your speed. Devout runners are best served by fixed-wheel strollers.
