Hungry Hungry Hippos is utter fail. It has become a cheap piece of junk over the years. Bought it for our son last Christmas (remembering how great it had been when we were kids) and it broke within a day. Flimsy plastic junk. :(

My son has every single game shown on here and more. Warning: If your child is an only child be prepared to play these games over and over!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love playing with my son but if you're not prepared to spend all your time in Candyland think twice before you buy certain games!!! Just saying...

I played Chutes & Ladders with my 4 year old nephew recently. He wasn't interested in playing by the rules, lol! He preferred to spin the spinner (for both of us). While I was counting the tiles on my piece, he would forgo counting, moving his piece to the tiles with ladders on them. Taking him up to an easy WIN! We'll have to work on following the rules another time. Try explaining "cheating" to a 4 year old. It just spoils the fun, and they won't want to play with you again.

What about Battleship? That's a great game too. I just got it for my son and he loves it! Of course I'm the one who has to play with him, but spending quality time is always good.

And one doesn't have to wait in line on Thanksgiving for a Black Friday "bargain" for any of these games. They're all reasonably priced and almost always available.

Hey Megan good news they do still make Don't Wake Daddy. I saw it the other day in Walmart. It blew me away to see it.

I love playing board games with my kids. We also have Monopoly Jr (good for learning to count money) and we play Bingo. War and Uno are daily occurences with us also.

I always hated Candy Land. It just made my kids cry when they got sent backwards. And do you really want to glorify candy? They get enough pressure to want nothing but candy without putting it in a board game too! Chutes and Ladders is much better for young children because it's "fun" (they get to go down the slide!) when they get sent back. It's a much better game to teach sportsmanship with than Candy Land.
