    My brother recently asked on Facebook for a list of recommendations for his 6-year-old daughter: "She can read at the level of an 8- or 9-year-old, but would prefer thematic content that's more suitable for a 6-year-old," he wrote in asking for suggestions. "I'd also love for her to read stories that feature strong female protagonists. Double plus bonus for sci-fi!" He started with Encyclopedia Brown and Nancy Drew, and once she ripped through those, he turned to the list of recommendations from his friends, which are definitely worth sharing with your girls.
