    Banana flavored breast milk?

Scientists have discovered that a nursing mother's breast milk can be flavored by the foods she eats.

Researchers from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark asked 18 lactating mothers to provide a sample of breast milk before and after eating flavored capsules. The capsules contained compounds that give caraway seed, menthol, banana and licorice their flavor. The milk was analyzed by high-tech machinery: a dynamic headspace analysis and a gas chromatography mass spectrometry.

The findings suggest that flavored breast milk may be beneficial to babies - preparing them to try new foods as they grow up.

Lead researcher of this study, Helen Hausner, told New Scientist magazine: "It's not like if the mother eats apple pie the baby thinks 'mmmm, apple pie,' but it may make them more accepting of the flavor of other foods."

In the study, all four flavors tested disappeared from the women's breast milk eight hours after they ate the capsules. Different flavors took varying amounts of time to appear in breast milk: two hours for caraway; two to eight for menthol; one hour for banana and two hours for licorice.

I could have saved these "scientists" a lot of time and research and told them the same!
My kids hated when I had peas, broccoli, or onions. They got gas when I had corn. And don't even get me started on eating fish!

What cracks me up is when a La Leche lunatic told me that nursing moms can eat anything and it doesn't effect the breastmilk one bit. I guess all those warnings on drug bottles and alcoholic beverages are all in vain! teeheheee

To me parenting is a reflection of who you are. the reason i say this, every one will impart their style of parenting the way they know best.I would also take the liberty to say, it is a lot of hard work to raise a child or children. Once we have become parents, we will be parents for the rest of our lives.

This really is common sense. Anyone that has nursed understands that your babies get anything that you've eaten which is why they tell you to make sure that you eat a nutritious diet. It's just like when you're pregnant. No, the baby may not know that you've eaten a triple chocolate piece of cake, but he will get the sugar, caffeine etc. It's nice to know that it can help them in the future though. As with the cabbage, I suppose the baby didn't like cabbage OR it's could've been the fact the cabbage can make them very gassy. It may have hurt her little belly. I know when I nursed my daughter cabbage and broccoli were a no no unless I wanted to be up all night with an unhappy child!!! It's a learning process.

Did deborah m read something i didnt???
Anyways I don't have children, but my niece said when she was nursing her baby did not like when she cole slaw, later she narrowed it down to cabbage. Don't know why, but she just had a really hard time getting her to feed when she had eaten anything with cabbage in it.

Oh, forgot to add this before i hit "post" ...
Kid2 had terrible reactions (gas, rashes, colic) whenever I ate anything that had milk or eggs in it...including baked goods. She ended up being allergic to dairy, even to this day (she's 7).

how can we achieve weightloss and obesity managment in 2weeks?

iam dr/mohamed and i feel happy to tell you these helpful information to maintain fatloss

1-weight training : building muscle will speed up your body's metabolism as muscles is active tissue meaning that it use calories just to maintain its present state . the more muscle you have the more calories you burn ,simple enough? let's go on

2-reduce carbohydrate intake: say what? i thought you need alot of carbohydrates for feul true, but an excess intake of carbs can and will be stored as body fat . 99% of my clients who reduce their carbohydrate intake for fatloss succeed. i can't let all my tricks out of the bag in fairness to my paying clients ,but agood starting point would be 1-1.25 grams of carbs per pound of lean bodyweight per day

3-fat freguently:i know you've all heared about this befor and it's true.four to six meals aday has its benefits especially on abelow-maitainance calorie diet . it allows for asteady flow of nutrients to the body which creates afavourable metabolic environment for muscle growth and fat loss.... for more info

      http://weightloss-secrets-2009.blogspot.com

4-eat more protien : that's right...... the building blocks of muscles are amino acids, and you get that from protien. now that i have taught my clients these nutritional tactics, they are on their way to loosing fat and getting lean that's what you want, isn't it?

5-reduce the intake of saturated fat: notice that i was specefic in saying saturated fats. saturated fats are the ones that cause the most problems, healthwise . there are good fats and there are bad fats and there are groups of fats calles essential fatty acids that are just that.they are essential to life as the body can't make them so we must take them with our diet. there are certain fats that i recommend for people to help them lose fats,my clients know but do you ? (fl***ed oil) if you really need to be slim come and see the rest of large secrets

      http://weightloss-secrets-2009.blogspot.com

6-water:drink,drink then drink some more, not necessarily in that order. an adult can probably several weeks without eating food, but only few days without drinking water. need i say more? water regulates body temprature, rids the body of waste ,lubricates the joints and provides amedium of chemical reactions that occur in the body.

i hope you and every sad obese can use these info to get better life and health

      thank you

      dr/mohamed
