The WSJ reported that Barbie's fate has been sealed via online voting at Mattel.com: She's officially a computer engineer. Visitors to the site chose between the following professions for the petite blonde: architect, anchorwoman, computer engineer, environmentalist and surgeon.
While the votes originally poured in for anchorwoman, the voting age skewed higher--like adult females--and the tide turned. In fact, female computer engineers launched a viral campaign to get "Barbie's geek on." Now the newest Barbie incarnation comes complete with "black leggings and a top decorated in binary code that spells Barbie, and lots of pink accessories-geek-chic glasses and Bluetooth headset," reports the WSJ.
Here's the funny thing: Mattel must have figured out what was happening, as they announced two winners: the popular vote winner (engineer) and the girls' vote winner (anchorwoman).
Hybrid Mom is all for a makeover--and this one has a fab "reveal." We can only hope our newly launched Glam Mother's Day Makeover has the same results--minus the insta-bachelor's degree in computer engineering, of course.
