Burberry Leather Dress For Toddlers: Ga Ga or Gag?

Source: Burberry Leather Dress For Toddlers: Ga Ga or Gag?

Slick leather pieces are right in fashion this Fall, and the trend hasn't been lost on kids' clothing designers. While 155-year-old Burberry tends to stick with placing its iconic plaid on various clothing items, it's pushing the limits this season with a short-sleeved black leather dress ($695) specifically designed for lil girls. Available in sizes 2T through 6, the structured dress is a mini version of what the fashion magazines, and our own FabSugar editors, have declared one of the season's most coveted items - but should lil girls be wearing it? When a toddler-sized faux leather bikini was introduced last year, LilSugar readers resoundingly sounded off against it. How do you feel about putting lil girls in a leather dress? Take our poll here.

Some idiot who makes under 100k a year probably would buy it keep up with the Jones. This is flat out stupid and it's ugly and plain.

When my son was a toddler about 90% of his wardrobe was hand-me downs. If I had added up the cost of all of the furniture in his bedroom and the cost of the clothes I actually bought for him, it wouldn't have cost $695. Aside from this dress being ridiculously expensive, it's also totally impractical. I'm sure it's hot since it's leather and toddlers tend to spit up, fall and spill things on themselves. Unless your toddler only wore it for a few minutes, it would be trashed pretty quickly and who wants to pay to have toddler clothing dry cleaned? Stupid.

Even without the outrageous cost for a toddler dress... Why in the world would anyone dress their toddler in a leather dress? Even high quality leather is not real comfortable to go playing in. Ridiculous!

$700 for A dress? I don't think I spent that much on clothes for my child's first two years of life! eesh! No way!

I don't even want to read the story attached to this heading!!!! NEVER! come on lets get real this is not the type of dress a child should wear. However, I also would not put my toddler daughter in a bikini either. We have to let these little girls enjoy their childhood not rush them to dress in items that are not appropriate for them

I wouldn't pay that much for an item of clothing for MYSELF, much less my daughter.

Now price aside, I don't think there's anything wrong with the dress itself. Leather or not, a bikini and a dress are very different.

Joel, I agree completely with you about spending $695 on my child, or even for me for that matter! The only piece of clothing I have ever bought that cost that much was my wedding dress and that is staying in the family.

That being said, I like how the dress looks, but I would only pay a TENTH of the original cost. It would be cute with some fun little girl tights and mary janes.

Personally, I wouldn't spend even $10 on that dress for a toddler. It's not that cute.

      What Joel said.

I don't care what it looks like (though, i do think that style of dress only looks good on grown women), $695 is too much for one outfit for a toddler.

Anyone who spends 695.00 for a dress for a toddler is seriously mentally impaired. You also are a very useless human being. There are children who go to bed hungry every night and this display of arrogance and selfishness is totally disgusting.

I wouldn't pay $695 for my child to dress in a blackened cow carcass
