Gisele Bundchen wore her regular clothes through pregnancy!

Gisele Bundchen, 29, gave birth to her son Benjamin just 8 weeks ago (dad is football hunk Tom Brady), yet she's already back at work posing at photoshoots. Sigh.

The supermodel says she never wore maternity clothes. "I put on a little weight [throughout my pregnancy], but kept using almost the same clothes, with small adjustments on the stomach," she says. "I kept myself in good shape during the whole pregnancy, eating healthily, meditating, and doing exercises."

Small adjustments on the stomach?! In order to keep myself sane, I have to believe that this is all genetics. I exercised when I was pregnant and I gained 55 pounds. I was so big, I couldn't find maternity clothes that fit.

Many, many months after I gave birth, I tried on my maternity pants and about eight other people could have joined me in there, which would be fine if I were the Octomom-but I'm not.

Yes, I lost the weight, but still ... How can you not need maternity clothes when you're pregnant? I guess that's why she's a super model.

Are you wearing maternity- or bigger sized-clothes now?

This certainly does little to endear Gisele to the average American woman. Who cares about her tiny weight gain?! I like Heidi Klum better. Yes, she's getting back in shape quickly, but fully admits she gained a lot of weight and she in putting in the work to get back to her career.

I really think it depends on the person. I am 12 weeks along and am already wearing maternity clothes. At about nine weeks everything pinched my stomach area. The rest of me is still the same size...

Though it is surprising that she never once wore maternity clothes. Even Heidi Klum seemed to have grown quite a belly while pregnant.

I don't agree when people make comments about people "eating for two." I am not doing that and have a belly...it is because there is a baby growing in there.

I know lots of women who didn't wear maternity clothes. Exercise eat right and not eat for two.

I do think a lot of it is genetics. I ate normal (which is normally just on this side of healthy with plenty of chocolate and treats) and my current pregnancy (which is my third) I've gained less than 5lbs. Now, I still needed to wear maternity pants but I wore my regular shirts though most of my pregnancy. However, I have friends who worked out and watched what they ate and still gained 30lbs.

I was able to wear (and button!) my size 2 jeans until I was 8 months pregnant when I finally had to undo the button and wear a longer shirt. It's not a miracle, it's being healthy and sensible about what you eat while pregnant.

It's her 1st child and she was in great shape before the pregnancy, so I believe her. She also has the upper hand when it comes to eating healthy and exercising, many of us don't know or don't have that kind of time and dedication to our bodies. She has to keep it all in check since her body is what makes her money.

her JOB is to be thin. She was just doing her job and worked throughout her pregnancy. Plus, a total of 25-35 pounds is safe weight gain during pregnancy-- maybe she really wasn't putting her baby's health ahead of her own self-image?

Since when is "not eating" considered a right amount of food?

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and have to admit there's some truth to what she said. So, for the rest of us who are not supermodels, it's called spandex... At this point in my pregnancy, I find that yoga pants and stretchy sweaters are more comfortable. Of course, the amount of pregnancy weight gain is also a huge factor...

I mix maternity and regular clothes. Most maternity is ridiculously huge on me and looks like I'm wearing a tent instead of clothes. I've had to special order smaller sizes, and then they still don't fit.

Blah, blah, blah.... fantastic for her. If as one person said you body is your money maker I suppose you almost "have" to watch what you eat and do during pregnancy. Good for her to give birth to healthy baby and even better that she more than likely has a personal trainer, personal chef and personal whatever to help her keep on that track. Not realistic for the rest of the women in the world who have other kids to take care of and the lack of luxuries these celebrities are blessed with. I myself am 41 giving birth to baby #2 any day and was lucky to bounce back fairly quick considering but some of the time schedules these women put themselves on is ridiculous and only available when you have a nanny to take care of the newborn while you are getting your body back.

Is that something you'd want to brag about? Not me. I only gained 25 pounds during my pregnancy and I had to wear maternity clothes by about month 4 or 5. I sure hope her baby wasn't malnourished. I would be more concerned about having a healthy baby, then trying to stay thin during pregnancy.

She is a supermodel and remember people, this is her 1st pregnancy and if on top of the good genes she exercised a lot and ate just the right amounts of the right food, well, that's what happens, but I can't compare myself to her and not even going to try to, at 5'4, 125 lbs before pregnancy I gained 27 lbs and after giving birth I was almost 140 lbs, took a while but I did loose the weight, and for Giselle, well, good for her, after all her body is her money maker, she need to take care of it.

Is there a healthy and positive point in trying to (again) compare celebrity women to the rest of us?

I gained 40 lbs with my pregnancy (right on track according to my midwives) and am still not back into my pre-pregnancy clothes after 5 months. Its not like my stomach is huge or anything, I'm just shaped differently now than I was before my pregnancy. My hips are probably about 4 or 5 inches bigger than they used to be and my breasts have gone up a full cup size. I still think that I look good, just in a different way than I did before.

holy crap! we wonder why there are so many depressed people out there. why would our first priority be to fit in some ridiculously small pant size? size 2 at 8 months pregnant? jeez! feed that kid!!!

everyone is different - age, genetics, and what (not how much) you eat decide this for us. eat healthy, don't hold back if your hungry and seriously - focus on having a healthy baby, not "trying to stay skinny".

      holy screwed up priorities!

98 lbs when i got pregnant, 160+ in labor, and lost 35 lbs overnight ( literally) when my 10 lber popped out. did any of it matter? not one bit once my little man smiled :)

yeah that is not normal. is her uterus back on her spine?
    • Karen S  •  2 years 3 months ago
I think she's genetically lucky -- but for my last pregnancy I got so damn sick of maternity wear that I bought regular clothes in a few sizes up. It was nice to look like a normal person!

Wow - this is amazing for her - discouraging for the rest of us, eh ;-)

A lot of what pants you can wear depends on the cut and the shape of your belly bump. I have a friend who's 7 months along and she wears super low cut jeans and has a high bump. My bump is low and I never wear low cut jeans, I wear the modern cut where the button in just bellow the belly button....If my friend wore jeans like mine, she wouldn't be able to. She just loves to say that she can fit in her skinny jeans and I can't.
