Our baby boy is due in just three weeks (crazy!), and suddenly I have breasts on the brain. I'm wondering, while strolling around Manhattan with the little dude, would it be cool to breastfeed him in a cafe or on a park bench? How about a nice restaurant?
A couple years ago, my friend breastfeed her baby while we were having brunch, and I felt a little awkward. But now that I'm older and wiser (at a whopping 31 years old:), I'm really supportive women breastfeeding in public. It seems so much nicer for a woman to be able to breastfeed her baby at the cafe table, for example, versus hiding out in a cramped restaurant bathroom. (Plus, she can always cover up with a scarf, right?)
Blogger Amanda even made these downloadable cards (image featured above) to pass out to women, thanking them for breastfeeding in public.
So, I'm curious: How do you guys feel about breastfeeding in public? Do you think anywhere is great? Do you think it's fine, as long as the mom covers up with a blanket? Or should breastfeeding be a private act?
