Is Miley Cyrus Bong Smoking a Desperate Cry For Her Parents Attention?
Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus -- you have to stop fighting with each other and setting boundries for your troubled daughter.
Miley partied with friends, five days after her 18th birthday getting giddily high on a bong, smoking LSD-like Salvia. Now, Salvia may not be an illegal substance in California, as it is in many other states, but that doesn't make her behavior any less self-destructive than if she was snorting cocaine.
Furthermore, Miley knew that she was being videotaped while she smoked and laughed like a hyena. What does that mean? It means Billy Ray and Tish, that she desperately wants you to know AND to act like her parents and tell her to stop, now!

She doesn't really want to be left unsupervised, partying in her house when you both are God knows where!
"Her parents are apparently too busy arguing with each other to notice their daughter. And now Miley is ingesting something which will alter her reality. She's doing this because her reality is so painful that she wants to escape it," says psychotherapist Dr. Gilda Carle of drgilda.com.
"No matter how old you are -- you are affected deeply by your parents divorce. Many people like Miley aren't able to verbalize their grief so they act out," agrees psychologist Dr. Jeff Gardere, contributor to HealthGuru.com.
The unique problem that Miley has is that she's no ordinary teenager whose "acting out" is only noticed by her family and close friends. She knows that during the past year, every time she has misbehaved -- wearing see-thru tops in public, drinking underage -- she's set off a firestorm of attention in the press.
Yet despite these public displays of attention-seeking, the only thing is that what really matters to her -- attention from her parents -- doesn't appear to be forthcoming. And since publicly exposing her breasts didn't work, she's pushing the self-destructive limits -- smoking hallucinogenic herbs in a bong.

Salvia isn't banned in California, but it can cause depression and anxiety, as a side effect according to psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, author of the upcoming book, The 7: Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life.
I have to wonder Tish and Billy Ray -- where the hell are you? Why is Miley able to party alone with her friends at home -- why aren't you there supervising her? Just because she's 18 now, doesn't mean that she's mature and that your responsibilities as parents are over and done with.
Miley said that her biggest wish for her 18th birthday was to have her whole family together for a vacation. I believe her. But you didn't listen.
Now she's trying to compel you to be together. "She wants to force her parents to come back together to deal with her," says Dr. Carle. "And she'll keep upping the ante to get their attention."
Furthermore Billy Ray and Tish. Just because your daughter is a celebrity doesn't mean she shouldn't be treated like a normal teenager and that means rules.
"All parents -- even those who have a celebrity as a child, need to monitor their teens' activities, look out for their best interests and let them know they are loved and that you don't want them doing things which can hurt them," emphasizes child psychologist, Dr. Lawrence Balter.
Do you hear that Billy Ray and Tish? Your daughter isn't just a celebrity and she isn't just a brand. Normal parenting rules still need to apply to Miley and she desperately wants them. Step up, be the parents she yearns for and throw that bong away!
