Jessica Simpson Has Her Baby: Welcome Maxwell Drew!

Jessica Simpson

and her fiance, NFL player Eric Johnson, welcomed their daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson on Tuesday. The baby girl was 9 pounds, 13 ounces, and 21-3/4 inches long, according to the birth announcement posted at Simpson's official website.

"We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received," the 31-year-old new mom said in a statement. "This has been the greatest experience of our lives!"

While we wait for the details, here are five facts to ponder:

1. She was about 10 days overdue. Most people forget that the due date is just an estimate -- a woman isn't technically "post term" until she hits 42 weeks -- but still, when the whole world seems to be waiting for you to give birth, every minute beyond 40 weeks must feel like an eternity. (Just ask Beyonce.) "To everyone who keeps congratulating me on the birth of my baby girl...I'm still pregnant!!"she Tweeted on April 21. "Don't believe what you read ladies and gents."

2. She thought about naming her baby "Zinfandel,"Cafemom reports. In the end, though, she went with "Maxwell," which is her fiance Eric Johnson's middle name as well as his grandmother's maiden name. "Drew" is Johnson's mother's maiden name, US Weekly reports.

3. She'd really like Maxwell to be a girly-girl
. "Eric is so athletic -- we're gonna have this athletic girl and I won't even be able to take her shopping, 'cause all she's gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!" Simpson told Elle magazine recently. "I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!"

4. She craved salted cantaloupe while pregnant. Also: Kraft Macaroni and Cheese from a box and Cap'n Crunch cereal. Sure, she gained a lot of weight, but plenty of women gain plenty of weight while pregnant -- and while those pregnancy pounds will come off eventually, her battle with her weight has actually been great for her fashion business. "I got so much scrutiny for putting on extra pounds, but I think that the decision not to make myself anorexic was actually great for branding," she told Lucky magazine. "Because when you're really, really skinny, not everybody can relate to you."

5. Simpson and Johnson still haven't picked a wedding date. They got engaged in November 2010, after dating for just six months, but now that they're proud parents, Simpson and Johnson, 32, still haven't decided when they'll walk down the aisle. In March, Simpson told talk show host Jimmy Kimmel that Johnson "Feels like my husband already." She would know; Simpson was married to actor Nick Lachey for three years. No word on whether a "Baby Makes Three"-type reality TV show about her life with Johnson is in the works.
