The Jolie-Pitts Serve Coke for Breakfast

Maybe "serve" is being too generous. Force-guzzle might be more appropriate.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Brad Pitt talked about his family life more than is typical for the guarded actor and father of six.

Apparently, they're "just like us" too because mornings are a chaotic circus trying to get two adults and six kids out the door. Brad's solution? Ice cold Coca-Cola!

"Listen, I admit there's times like, 'We gotta get up. Get up! Here's your shoes. Here's your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca Cola Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it! Just so we could get 'em up and going," Pitt admitted in the interview.

I thought getting myself, my daughter, and my husband ready in the morning could be nuts. How do we deal? Usually scrambled eggs loaded with spinach and peppers with whole grain toast or a Greek yogurt with granola. At the very least, we grab a banana on the way out the door. We don't start our day without breakfast. And we most certainly don't start it by cracking open a can of high fructose corn syrup and caramel coloring. We rarely make that an inclusion of any part of our day.

Here we have Brad and Angelina who should be commended on the aid work they do for children around the world, and yet, the ones they are ultimately the most responsible for aren't being taught proper nutrition. First offense, we could possibly shake off. But does anyone recall the "Angelina Jolie Cheetos" fiasco a few years back when there were only four Jolie-Pitts running around? Angelina was photographed walking her little ducklings single file down the street, each holding their own bag of Cheetos. Not the tiny bag you might (MIGHT) stick in a lunchbox, but the larger gas station size.

Couple this news with the recent shock over Angelina's sickly-thin frame at the Golden Globes, and you've got to stop and wonder when they're going to prioritize their health. Their children are as impressionable as any others, and also as dependent upon the guidance of their parents as any others. Brad and Angelina are sending startlingly clear messages to Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne that their health isn't a priority. Their actions show their kids that whatever you are rushing out the door for is more important than themselves.

I get it, you're busy! I am too. No, I'm not an A-list celebrity bouncing from studio to foreign country to international aid event to red carpet, but I'm definitely putting in my forty-hours-plus and trying to balance it all, too. I'm worthless to my company, my daughter, my husband, my charities, and mostly myself if I can't take even 10 minutes in the morning to start my day right.

See our tips for some healthier on-the-go breakfasts, Brad and Angelina. They really are simple enough that even you and your brood can make these happen in lieu of the 12-ounce sugar-shock start to your kids' day that you've been relying on.
