Live from the delivery room: Kimora Lee Simmons uses Twitter while in labor

Kimora Lee Simmons' Twitter accountKimora Lee Simmons' Twitter accountIn case you haven't heard, Kimora Lee Simmons gave birth to a baby boy over the weekend. The baby daddy is actor Djimon Hounsou. The new guy in the house joins Kimora's daughters, Ming, 9, and Aoiki, 6, from her previous marriage to Russell Simmons.

Here's another interesting detail about Kimora's new baby: She used Twitter while she was in labor and also to announce his birth (see image). (No word on his name yet, but I'm sure we'll find that out via Twitter, too.)

Call me crazy, but I still can't get used to the idea of reading tweets from expectant moms while they are in the process of giving birth.

I know everyone has their own way of dealing with the stress of labor and delivery, and perhaps posting updates on Twitter is one of those ways.

Or maybe we're losing our ability to live privately and in the moment--even during something magical like childbirth--without technology glued to our fingertips?

What's your take on using Twitter, Facebook, blogs or other social media apps to post live updates about child birth?

Just her - I am not really sure why the term "baby daddy" is racist...I think some people are just out to make everything racist...

I must admit updating my facebook status while in labor... I was early so I wanted to quickly let people know without calling a ton of people

Other than her last name, and the business that Russel helped her start, and the one she took from Russel Simmons, she has nothing else going for her. Ghetto in the Hollywood making baby daddies, for that large child support. She wont marry him because she would loose that big alimony check..but she'll have babies..because hey... if she tires of him too, thats just more money coming in... Just ghetto...thr real Kimora shines through, that nice house russel worked his ass for... ghetto hoe !!11

angel_wings17~your a hater! I'm not big on the whole twitter movement but hey man...to each their own. Both pregnancies, I walked against my contractions and meditated all thru labor so I could have the most natural experience possible. I barely made it to te hospital with both my babies and they were both almost 9 lbs.

The twitter thing has gone way too far. I can understand calling your mother or husband when you start having contractions, but tweeting? Come on Kimora I know you have more class than that.

When I was in labor I was braiding my hair. I had just gotten my hair done it was looking good. I didn't want it to napp up so I was braiding my hair during between contractions. I can believe it.

I guess some people can't be out of the limelight even when they're spewing forth a new human being.

Although it has found it's way into the common vernacular, the unfortunate phrase "baby daddy" is indeed racist, inappropriate, and disrespectful. Do you say that when a white couple has a child? I'm certain that you did not mean this in a rude or racist way, but rather a comical one, so just choose your words a little more carefully in the future.

That being said, I do agree with you- it is a little TMI for my taste, but that's Kimora's personality, so whatever.
