Mystery Woman Makes Millions with 'Toy Porn' Videos

(Newser)

- Want to make millions on YouTube without ever showing your face? Try posting videos of yourself "unboxing" children's toys (with a deliberate crinkle of the packaging) and showing how the toys work. It helps to have a pleasant, sing-song voice and nicely manicured nails, too. All of this has worked for DisneyCollectorBR, an unidentified woman who's racked up more than 2.4 billion views on her YouTube channel with videos about toys, many from Disney films, BuzzFeed reports.

More amazing: Her audience is comprised mostly of toddlers who apparently can't get enough. "I heard this crazy voice, and I'm like, What the hell is this," says a Massachusetts mother of two-a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old-who both watch the channel "with equal fervor."

Thanks to ads, this likely translates into seven figures annually for DisneyCollectorBR, according to one estimate, and inspires the admiration of analysts. "I call it first-person toy porn," says a digital-TV strategist. "I think it works because it's Christmas morning every minute." Some theorize DisneyCollectorBR is affiliated with a similar channel, BluCollection; a commenter on the Frantic Mama blog identified the channel owners by name, saying they're a Brazilian couple in Winter Park, Fla., who prefer to remain anonymous. (New Media Rockstars tried and failed to dig up more info.) Whoever DisneyCollectorBR is, her anonymity may help, because it makes the videos all about the toys: "Kids are loving this because the woman never shows her face," says a video marketing executive. "It's just like playing with other kids playing toys." (In disturbing Disney news, 35 of its employees have been accused of crimes involving children and sex since 2006.)
