    Shiloh's Such a Tomboy!

She's got a new Peter Pan 'do and doesn't like to dress up like a girly-girl. Does Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter secretly want to be a boy?
    - Mark Marino, BettyConfidential.com
French women have always been admired for their fashion savvy, but on February 21, it was a tiny American in Paris who made headlines for her bold new look. Three-year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt debuted a sporty cropped 'do as she shopped for clothes at a Bonpoint on the Rue de l'Université in the Left Bank with her dad, Brad Pitt, and big sis, Zahara.

While Shiloh certainly looked adorable with her chopped locks, her cut has been somewhat controversial. Many bloggers mistook the towheaded tot for her 19-month-old brother, Knox, when Brad, 46, and partner Angelina Jolie took her boating in Venice on February 18, and critics have complained that the 'do is a don't for a little girl.

Still, Shiloh has proudly been a tomboy from the very start. In June 2006, the infant wore a blue Kingsley Pots & Pans tee for her very first cover shoot with People magazine. More recently she's been spotted sporting camouflage pants, ties, fedoras, and an array of outfits in gray and black. According to Jolie-Pitt insiders, it's Shiloh - not her famous parents - who determines which duds she'll wear. A Bonpoint eyewitness tells People magazine that while 5-year-old Zahara opted for girlie pieces, "Shiloh only wanted items from the boys' collection."

That certainly comes as no surprise to Papa Pitt. "She only wants to be called John. John or Peter," he told Oprah Winfrey last year. "So it's a Peter Pan thing."

While several celebrity websites have slammed Shiloh for emulating the wardrobe worn by her dad and her big brothers Maddox, 8, and Pax, 6, the truth is that she may simply be following in her gorgeous mom's footsteps. "I wanted to be Indiana Jones when I was growing up," Angie, 34, admits. "I was a real tomboy."

And look at how nicely she turned out!

Here are some of Shiloh's best tomboy fashion moments:

Oh, boy! Days-old infant Shiloh makes her much anticipated photo debut in June 2006 wearing blue pants and a rockin' tee from Kingsley, a label that later became a fave of big bro Maddox.

Shopping in France in October 2009, Zahara steals her mom's style in a mini lavender Gerard Darel dress (Angelina is a big fan of the designer), while Shiloh channels dad Brad in a funky fedora and tie.

Is Zahara giving her opinion of Shiloh's sword-and-camo pants ensembles? The sisters opted for completely different attire during an excursion to a Toys R Us in France last September.
Such a picky girl! Unlike her heels-loving fellow Hollywood princess Suri Cruise, Shiloh prefers casual kicks and wore sneakers to a February 2009 performance of Broadway's The Little Mermaid.
Wearing a gray peacoat, skinny jeans, and black sneakers, the blonde babe was the spitting image of her dad's Fight Club co-star Jared Leto when she hit the streets of Manhattan last February.
She may look like a living doll, but you won't catch Shiloh playing with Barbies! Visiting a Washington, D.C., toy shop with her pop last March, the hoodie-clad tot picked up a puffy blue hippo.

Tell us: What do you think of Shiloh's tomboy style?

shame on this magazine, I can't beleive their criticizing a 3 year olds wardrobe, I mean she is 3, wouldn't you expect them to be more on adults than toddlers, besides 3 year olds are still babies and don't really know much of anything yet, she probably doesn't even know what tomboy means!

I can't believe grown men and women don't have anything better to do than criticize a 3 year old's wardrobe. She's 3, get over it people! Shame on Life and Style magazine for sensationalizing this on their cover.

Honestly, I am about to cut my 3 yr. old daughters hair very short - she is at the age she won't let me brush it w/ out a fight.... And she also hates wearing dresses... She enjoys girly stuff but prefers her pants & tennis shoes to anything else! And skulls - if it is covered in skulls she wants it... People (the media) really needs to report on more pressing issues!! They are not turning Shiloh gay!! She is just a girl w/ big brothers who obviously likes to be/dress like them... I am sure it will pass....

I was probably only a little bit older than her when I saw Peter Pan--the one with Julie Andrews--and I begged for that haircut. I wanted to be Peter Pan--I also went through phases where I wanted to be a unicorn, a dragon, a princess, a knight, an archaeologist, a dinosaur... Imagination and play is important for kids to develop. No one thought it was a big deal when I was a kid--so why does it have to be a big deal for Shiloh?

It's probably just a phase she's going through. I mean just because she dresses like a boy now doesn't mean she's gonna have some kind of surgery to become a man like Chaz Bono when she's older.

She's a darling. I had that same haircut back in the sixties when I was a kid, called a pixie, courtesy of my mom, and I HATED it. But, I get it, she's channeling Peter Pan. Got the acting bug already. I wouldn't be surprised to see her on the big screen in the future.

the press is ubelievable. you slam Suri Cruise for wanting to dress like mom by wearing dresses, lipstick and kitten heels. And now your slamming Shiloh being dressing like a tom-boy? what is the big freakin' deal? Why can't a kid be a kid? It's personal preference, they are exerting their individualism at a time when they are becoming more aware of themselves and what they like at that time, and they are being judged like adults. When did it start being acceptable for the press to pass judgement on young children?
Shiloh has two older brothers and one sister that is about her age. So what if she finds she relates better to her brothers by wearing ties and playing with swords? At that age, gender isnt anything more than having different body parts. Angelina and Brad are doing the best thing they can do for her, by supporting how she wants to look instead of pushing her the other way. It creates confidence, happiness and over all emotional well being as she grows up. How can you say that is a bad thing?

Good gravy!!!! When I was a little girl, I had short hair, didn't like Barbies, would take my mother to the boys section when school shopping and was a complete and total tomboy. I am now married to a wonderful man, I have a wonderful son, and I am a complete woman. Let little girls and boys be kids.

She is so cute! She is going to be gorgeous when she grows up. Who cares if she wants to be tomboy, I was one for a while when I was in elementry through middle school. It is just phase, and if it isn't, it shouldn't bother you.

To be honest, I don't see the big deal. She is a little kid and no one is saying that she will always want to dress that way. I think it is rather cute. I say leave the kid alone and let her play and be who she wnats to be!

    • Meggan Jones  •  1 year 7 months ago
this is a child. not an adult. let her be who she wants and leave her alone. why should anyone have the right to tell her how she should be dressing?

I agree with everyone who thinks this isn't a big deal. Some toddlers develop a sense of what they want to wear, or Angelina must know what she likes. I remember when I was around 7-8 years old, I was a total tomboy, wore boy shorts and baseball caps. My mum allowed me to wear whatever I felt comfortable in. One day I just threw off those clothes and became obsessed with dresses like I am still today. I think sometimes clothes helps us identify ourselves and what we like.
